Originally founded in 1893, Schroeder's longstanding history, friendly atmosphere and convenient downtown location has made the Bavarian inspired beer hall a favorite of San Francisco residents and business professionals for the past 120 years. The original structure was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and fire before being reopened at its current location of 240 Front Street by Henry Schroeder, who was actively involved in downtown San Francisco's reconstruction. Famous among downtown male clientele until opening its doors to females in the 1970s, Schroeder's continues to be known as a destination for drinks and dining in the Financial District.

“My brother loves beer and we get together a couple times a month. We had not been there in years, and this is where I remember them having a great beer selection. They have really done a great job on the remodel and the music is at a level you can talk at! The food was good and the beer was great. I will be back!”
“A great place to visit. We were there on a Wednesday night for happy hour. The happy hour menu was not appealing to my taste, and the glass of red wine seemed like a short pour. They seemed to be a little too busy for the number of servers. Our server was great, just too distracted with all the tables they had to serve.”
“The Black gentleman in the blue T-shirt who greeted and escorted us to our table seemed impatient and came across as somewhat rude. On the other hand, our table server was attentive, efficient, and provided great service throughout the meal. The sausage board and Jägerschnitzel were both tasty, and the beer was fresh and enjoyable. However, people who have actually been to Germany and are familiar with authentic German cuisine may find the food a bit lacking in authenticity. It was a good experience while visiting SF but wouldn’t go back again.”
“Lots of large tables for bigger groups, I suppose it's to cater the office happy hours all around. The drinks are fine, the food is mediocre. Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend the food by itself, when you are drinking and the hunger hits you, it's not too bad. So overall, a decent bar to grab some drinks, and maybe a bite, and chat away.”
