Bluestone Lane - Los Altos is an Australian restaurant in the Los Altos neighborhood of Los Altos,.
“This place is very popular so either go earlier in the morning or get a reservation if you can. The host was nice and allowed us to sit at a reserved table since they were not coming for another hour. The food was very good and came out fast. Their potato wedges are very crisp and the sweet and sour sauce is tasty and goes well with them. Ricotta pancakes and the soft chili scramble hit the spot for my wife and daughter. Nice bright decor and the service was very attentive when we were here.”
“It was a nice weekend brunch / lunch time in California June, good weather and not too warm. We expected the wait time might be long, but to our surprise that there was no wait. Many wanted the outdoor seats, but we took the indoor seat, a small round table with 2 chairs by the windows. The restaurant settings, IMO, are bright and welcoming. we like it. The food and drink menu are quite simple, no fancy dishes, just regular wraps, sandwiches, salads, hot and cold drinks, and smoothies. We ordered a latte, a Bondi blue protein smoothie, a truffle mushroom grilled cheese sandwich, a chicken & avocado sandwich. Overall, all drinks and dishes taste good. The sandwiches use sourdough bread, and they come with chips. The bread slices are thick and crispy, the ingredients are fresh, and the chicken tastes juicy (not dry). The chips do not look home made though. I would say the food and drink are a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The services provided by the waiters were OK, but not exceptional. One of our drinks didn't come until after we finished our sandwiches. Overall, nice restaurant settings, foods are good and reasonably priced.”
“I went to this place by myself for a Sunday brunch. The restaurant parking was full, but there’s a larger parking lot across the street, so I parked there and walked over. The place is quite spacious, with seating indoors, on the patio, and outside. Since the weather was beautiful with spring blooms all around, I chose to sit outside. I was seated right away, which was great. The main issue was getting the server’s attention. It was very busy, and while the staff were clearly working hard, the service felt slow and could definitely be improved. Once I was able to order, I started with a macchiato and water. For food, I went with a traditional breakfast platter — sourdough toast topped with smashed avocado, eggs, bacon, and sautéed vegetables. I also added halloumi, a pan-fried firm cheese. One piece of the halloumi was excellent, but the other had a slightly strong, goat-cheese-like aroma, which I personally didn’t enjoy. Otherwise, the dish was fresh, healthy, and satisfying. I also ordered a side of fried potato wedges, which came with dipping sauce and sour cream — a nice indulgent addition and very enjoyable. Overall, the food was really good and well-balanced. The only downside was the slow service, which may be understandable given how busy it was, but still leaves room for improvement.”
“Love the coffee, brunch item, and vibe here. I personally appreciate so many savory options for brunch. Food is always good and comes out promptly once you order. Service can be slow because they’re always busy, so ordering via QR code can help speed things up. I also like that everything has a calorie count so you can stay on track for health goals while enjoying yummy food.”
“Bluelane delivers some genuinely impressive flavors that make it stand out in the Los Altos cafe scene. The Spiced Chicken Wrap and Truffle Mushroom Grilled Cheese were both expertly executed, offering a sophisticated twist on standard cafe fare. However, the absolute stars of the show were the potato wedges—easily the crispiest and most flavorful I’ve had in recent memory—and the PB Blueberry Protein Smoothie, which managed to be both healthy and the undisputed highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the beverage program hit a snag with the orange juice, which felt like a lackluster companion to such high-quality food. While the smoothie was a triumph of balance and taste, the juice fell flat and didn't quite match the premium feel of the rest of the order. It’s a small gripe, but noticeable when the kitchen is clearly capable of much higher standards. The physical experience of dining here proved to be a bit of a challenge. Between significant wait times and a seating arrangement that left me stuck in the harsh, direct sunlight, the atmosphere wasn't as relaxing as I’d hoped. The glare made it physically uncomfortable to sit for long periods and, frankly, made it nearly impossible to snap any decent photos of the beautiful food. If you’re visiting, I’d highly recommend aiming for a shaded table to truly enjoy the vibe. Service was the most disappointing aspect of the visit, feeling somewhat disorganized and inattentive. Having to request napkins multiple times and never receiving utensils at all made the meal feel more like a DIY project than a seated dining experience. Bluelane has mastered the menu, but until the service and seating logistics catch up to the quality of the kitchen, you’ll need a bit of extra patience to get through your meal.”
