“(Photo) Roots of J. Hollinger’s Waterman’s Chophouse. (Painting) Restaurant #2 the Daily Dish, and #3 The Dish & Dram TL;DR - As a Silver Spring local, thank you for hosting my family and myself with excellent food, kind service, professional digs, and the best vibes throughout June ‘26. Visit #1 - Hollinger’s: Seafood line of lobster, seared scallops, and shrimp. Paired with a chilled Portuguese vintage. Visit #2 - Daily Dish: Getting my greens and roughage via quinoa ahi tuna salad niçoise. Enjoyed with their house special of a Basil Hayden Old Fashioned. Visit #3 - Hollinger’s: Carne + Chimichurri + Asparagus. Savored with a Montelpuciano d’Abruzzo. Visit #4 - Daily Dish: On Father’s Day, I had perfectly seared salmon on a bed of saffron rice and bok choy. My family enjoyed the pasta, rack of lamb, and the beets salad. And another Basil Hayden Old Fashioned for being a Dad! Visit #5 - Hollinger’s: It was still Father’s Day. And still sated from the salmon. And I chose to return to the beginning for another of my favorite Tuscan vintage, Montelpuciano d’Abruzzo. Visit(s) #6 and on: As a Silver Spring native for the last decade, the Dish & Dram is up next and on deck! I proudly direct fellow diners to these Family of Restaurants: J. Hollinger’s, the Daily Dish, and The Dish & Dram. They are wonderful hosts and thank you for reading this far.”
“This is a lively place with very good food! Like Ray’s The Classics, that used to be in this location, the menu is limited, but excellent! Our waitress, Olivia, was lovely and attentive. We tried the prefix menu and it was really worth it. The lemon roasted boneless half chicken was actually great, and so was the vegetable tempura. We were hungry in the meal was filling! Highly recommend – make reservations.”
“Ate here before a show at The Fillmore. Happy hour all day and food is priced moderately. Would definitely consider coming back before a show in the future. Note, there is a full dining room area and seats in the bar area.”
“Very pleased with the atmosphere, service on brunch Sunday is hectic. However the food was mediocre. A bit loud in some areas. Nick the manager is very professional and accommodating. It was a very long wait time to get a server to help with our beverage orders. A large selection of food to choose from.”
“This place does not know how to cook a steak. I asked for medium and had to send it back it was cold in the middle. I never send stuff back even if I don’t like it, this was bordering on inedible. The second time it came back “heated” it was not even much warmer. They gave me $10 off for having to send it back….so it was still $65 and I didn’t enjoy it one bit or finish it because it was so raw. Other people at the bar were commenting on how raw it looked, and one woman told the server I should have it free. He scoffed at her, but he really should have comped it. I hardly ever treat myself to steak, so this was a huge disappointment. See the photo for what this restaurant considers medium, even after heating.”
