Bartolino’s The Hill is an Italian restaurant in the The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis.
“Such an exciting vibrant experience. Our server Rocky managed our large group with ease. Always there when anyone needed something, anticipated our needs. After flavorful appetizers of toasted ravioli and silician toasted ravioli, we knew we were in for a wonderful meal. Pork chops are the best in town. No need for a knife, they are so tender. The house risotto is almost as good as momma makes. Sole al ferri and salmon carciofi are excellent choices if you are craving a fish meal. For pasta, the angel hair Roseanne has shrimp and scallops in an amazing sauce. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a great meal and excellent service.”
“Most come to the Hill for Italian at the usual places, Zia's, Dominic's and Charlie Gitto's. Most will pass this gem up due to it being in the Drury Plaza hotel, you SHOULDN'T DO THAT. The food is made fresh to order and it clearly shows! The decor is very upscale and perfect for a business lunch or dinner and at $30 per person, a good deal. If you add wine the price will go up but would still be worthwhile due to the quality in evidence.”
“Excellent dinner on a Friday night. Excellent service, cocktails (looking at that Vesper), seafood fried ravs appetizer special, and simply perfect cannelloni and spaghetti con salsiccia.”
“As always tremendous dining experience. Very accommodating to my better half with her mobility scooter. Everyone was friendly from the hostess to the server to the general manager to the owner Chris. Always a pleasure to dine at Bartolino' the Hill or Bartolino's South County. Never a bad dining experience and always quality food. Thanks again to the entire staff for making me look good with my two friends dining with me. Very much appreciated!!!”
“The layout of the restaurant was very warm and inviting. The seats were comfortable, even after a long Saturday run. *Bonus: clean bathroom!!!! Food: The calamari was just right texture wise, flavor lacking but the sauce was great. A solid 3.5/ 5 My eggplant parmesan was very tasty and flavorful, the pasta it came with was very bland and that was disappointing with an Italian restaurant. But overall 3/5. I also tried the cannoli and presentation 5/5, but taste was where I was disappointed 2.5/5, it was just ok nothing to right home about and I was sad about the unsatisfactory in the calories consumed. But all is well in that regard. Overall experience was not bad. When I entered the restaurant I was over 20 mins early and was seat immediately regardless, which was great. The waiter was pleasant, but it was my first visit and I nearly felt rushed to order being asked my order immediately upon sitting down. Regarding pauses and asking if someone has been there before could go a long way. Final take I would possibly visit again, maybe or maybe not; the Italian restaurant market here is solid enough that not returning would not mean anything. But If I did I would have to order a totally different meal mid and and mediocre is the same and since I can cook very well, especially Italian food....when I eat it out I want it to be above a 3 or 3.5 honestly.”
