“The Doofenshmirtz backstory: I’m a middle aged perimenopausal white women with extreme decision fatigue and a side of waffling repeatedly especially if there is an over abundance of options for dinner as there is in TC…. So you have to know what made me choose amical over the rest…. And it was the promise of French onion soup. I freakin love really good French onion soup and this was better than really good. Okay, it was also the promise of bread. God I love bread. Bread and French onion soup? Sign me up. My partner and I decided to order a tour, bread (made in house — incredible and only $2!), French onion soup (top 5 contender), house salad (add some of the table top balsamic for an extra bite — you won’t regret it), the airline chicken (I very rarely order chicken out — so glad we did) & then we finished it off with an outstanding carrot cake and a shared cup of coffee. Our server (Stacey) outstanding, the drinks delish and overall experience was simply divine. I will be back.”
“A Traverse City Gem That Always Delivers Amical isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience wrapped in warmth, flavor, and style. Tucked along Front Street with a view that perfectly pairs with a glass of wine, this spot captures everything great about Traverse City dining. The menu is a seasonal masterpiece — creative yet comforting — with dishes that feel both familiar and elevated. The French-inspired flavors hit the sweet spot between rustic and refined, and the service? Always smooth, friendly, and just the right amount of local charm. Whether it’s brunch with friends, a cozy date night, or a glass of rosé by the fireplace, Amical always feels like the right choice. A true must-visit for anyone who loves food with heart and flair.”
“Surroundings relaxing, service fantastic (even in shoulder season) and menu amazing… Grilled octopus starter, peach salad, then rare miso-marinated tuna and roasted lamb shank… BEST I’ve had since we were in New Zealand! But definitely save room for raspberry crème brûlée! Our professional waiter Andrew was exceptional. What a great anniversary dinner!”
“I had a wonderful dinner at amical one Saturday evening. I was able to sit right down despite not having a reservation, and the heated patio was quite pleasant. The place is quiet with a nice ambience, and the staff were friendly and professional. I settled on the French onion soup and the gnocchi. The onion soup is phenomenal, and is a must have if you like that type of soup at all. It’s very rich and full of onion flavor. The gnocchi made for an interesting meal. It was delicious, and had some flavor combinations I don’t think I’ve had before with the peas, fennel, and chicken sausage mixed in. The quality of the food is excellent. I’d definitely recommend amical if you’re looking for a more upscale restaurant for a nice meal.”
“Everything we ordered was very good. My family had several dishes on the menu and not one was a disappointment! Great tasting food and deserts. My only issue is that space is a premium in the restaurant. The tables line the walls from the front to the back, and both sides toward the back. Server was on time and very helpful. Prices are on the high side, but to be expected with such gormet food. I had the walleye with capers, my son had the chicken, my wife had the lamb shank, and my daughter had the octopus. ALL Fantastic! We went for a special occasion, and will return again. I was told they change their menu out often, possibly every two weeks. Fine with me if the food tastes that great!”
