Tangerine Bistro is a French restaurant in the Downtown Truckee neighborhood of Truckee.
“Lovely dining experience that feels fresh in Truckee! My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner while staying in the area. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating; when I told them I was pregnant, they immediately confirmed my eating restrictions and accommodations off the top of their head. They were attentive but not too much hovering. The food! After dinner, my husband and I remarked that there are plenty of places in Truckee/Tahoe where you can spend $150 on a meal and not feel like you ate $150 quality food — this was not the case at Tangerine. The food was delicious and prepared wonderfully. We loved the salty bread and butter and the deviled eggs were genuinely worth it. The staff also threw in complimentary croquettes for our anniversary :) The rainbow trout was light and bright and the cassoulet was delicious!! My husband also thoroughly enjoyed in wine. Overall a great spot & perfect for diversifying your Truckee itinerary from pubs and grills! Nice vibes without being overly fussy.”
“I’m so sorry that I only remembered to take a photo after we left. The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. Lovely little restaurant in downtown Truckee. Went to dinner with my husband and our 3 teenage children. The younger two had the burger and fries which were delicious. We started with oysters and clams then has the rabbit pasta, the chicken pâté and the steak tartar. The only thing we didn’t love were the escargot but that was a personal opinion. Not a huge fan of bordelaise on snails. Finished with the crème brûlée and the molten chocolate cake. Both were good but not phenomenal. Brûlée was slightly overcooked as was the molten cake which wasn’t particularly molten. All said we are all looking forward to coming back for another stellar meal.”
“This is a lovely bistro with a European vibe. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our server was at our table in a few minutes. The drinks selection is excellent, with interesting and unique selections. The menu is fabulous, French-based, and something for everyone. My husband had the Ravioles du Dauphiné, with shaved black truffles, and it was superb. I had the Rainbow Trout, perfectly cooked. We shared the haricots verts, delicious with butter and almonds. We split a chocolate lava cake for dessert, which was served with vanilla ice cream and basil. Service throughout the meal was exceptional. A perfect dinner!”
“Great spot in Truckee with an excellent happy hour from 5-6 PM! We shared the deviled eggs with caviar (the standout dish), a delicious hamburger, crispy fries, and the shrimp & sausage and ham board—both fantastic. The shrimp cocktail was the only thing I’d probably skip next time. The staff was friendly, and the ambiance was on point. Looking forward to returning to try the full menu!”
“First, I really wanted to like this place. It was recommended by a friend and it was a nice local restaurant. We came at 5:30. the staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere was really nice. That’s really the extend though of the experience. We had - The bread - totally pleasant but very overly salted butter French onion soup - incredibly over salted that was practically inedible but we also paid $21 so we wanted to give it a shot Steak frites - over seasoned steak. Had to scrape off the peppercorn. Fries were soggy like they were sitting for a while. For $70, pretty big letdown Chicken - was fine. Creme brulee- best thing we tried. Overall, for $240, this was a huge letdown of a special meal. Again I’ll note the staff was lovely and only thing salvaging an extra star, but can’t recommend the food at all!”
