1637 at the York Harbor Inn is an American restaurant in the York neighborhood of York Harbor.
“This is our second time dining at 1637 Restaurant. We were first here in December about two years ago. When we arrived, the place was hopping. It was very lively with a gentleman playing some very mellow tunes on an electric guitar. It really set the mood for a nice evening. We had to wait about 10 or 15 minutes for our table, but that was fine because it was nice listening to the music and people watching! We happened to be seated next to a couple that we met earlier in the day at the Inn and talked with them throughout our meal. It’s always fun meeting different people when you’re away. My partner had a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and I had an Old-Fashioned made with Four Roses bourbon. He enjoyed his Chardonnay and although my old-fashioned was good it was a bit on the weak side and a little too sweet. We both decided to share the beet salad. When it came out, the portion size was enough for three people, but it was so good that we finished it all. Besides all the usual stuff in the salad, it also had candied nuts. It was so good we couldn’t stop eating it! My partner had the salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both were very good and my filet mignon was cooked exactly the way I liked it. When Evan our waiter came over and asked us about dessert and told us about the tiramisu special we jokingly said we would like the gingerbread bread pudding and he said OK. I was shocked because we had this dessert when we were here two years ago and it was very good and we figured it was only a special for the holiday season but he said no they have it all year. We were very excited to have it again. Looking forward to coming back again soon.”
“My family has been going to YHI for years and eating both in the 1637 and Ship Cellar Pub. We were able to attend the Mothers Day brunch yesterday 5/10/2026 at 2:30pm and it exceeded all expectations we had. We can't wait to go back for another date dinner, family dinner or special event.”
“We recently dined at 1637 at the York Harbor Inn as part of the Innkeeper’s 3-course package, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The meal included an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for each of us, and every course exceeded expectations. We started with expertly crafted drinks (alcohol is separate, which we were aware of), along with warm bread served with butter and roasted garlic—an amazing touch. The spinach and artichoke dip was rich and flavorful, and the onion rings were honestly the best I’ve ever had. For our main courses, we chose the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and the herb-roasted half chicken with the same sides. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Dessert was the perfect ending—creamy cheesecake and a slice of traditional Maine blueberry pie, both absolutely delicious. After dinner, we enjoyed live music and drinks by the fireplace, which made for a relaxing and memorable end to the evening. This was a truly exceptional experience for my wife and me. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a special night out with great food, atmosphere, and service.”
“Always a great experience here. Today we stopped for lunch and had a pizza with gluten free crust and a haddock sandwich. Both were fantastic. The lobster chowder is also very good and it too is gluten free.”
“Let me start of by saying that we are big foodies, and business owners ourselves. This was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The food is exceptional. From our appetizer of hot Brie and honey, alongside the house bread with roasted garlic, to our entrees.. the seafood ravioli was decadent, every bite better than the last. Best pasta dish I have ever had. The ribeye was also easily one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, mashed potatoes were delicious as well. For dessert we each tried the blueberry pie and gingerbread bread pudding. WOW. Every single thing that we ate was flavorful, well presented, and with good portions. Our server Evan was wonderful as well, friendly, and prompt. Thank you for caring, thank you for knowing how to execute a fine dining experience. Many establishments on the coast ride on the skirt tails of the ocean view. Many lack care when it comes to delicious food and ambiance. We can tell that you running this business genuinely care about the experience you are offering to people here. The details matter. Good food matters. It matters that you care. We appreciate you, from the ones in charge, to the chefs 👌, to the friendly and prompt servers and other staff. Thanks so much for making this an incredible anniversary weekend for my partner and I. It's tradition to stay here at the Inn and dine with you, and we already look forward to next year!”
