Dear Friends,As a lad raised in Sudbury, just off the Boston Post Road along which Revere made his famed ride, I could scarce be more delighted to write to you now and announce our nineteenth offering: Revere’s Midnight Ride.Our present bill of fare is rooted firmly in the very ground upon which Farmacia stands. Being but a few steps from the Paul Revere House along the Freedom Trail, we find ourselves daily in the company of history, and more so still as we draw near the 250th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence.In composing this chapter, we are much engaged with the ingredients and draughts that would have been known throughout New England in the colonial era, now rendered through a more modern practice. We make use of such produce as would have been plentiful in a New England summer, including berries, orchard fruits, and garden herbs, alongside spirits drawn chiefly from local distillers, with select expressions arriving from abroad.You shall find many familiar flavors herein, though presented in a different fashion. Some preparations are bright and lively, driven by fruit and season, whilst others are more composed, drawing from historical forms and refined with the balance and technique to which we now attend. As is our custom, a small assortment of colonial-style refreshments shall accompany the drink.At its heart, this humble bill of fare seeks to root the contents of each glass to the very stones and stories of our neighborhood.
