Haruki is Norwalk's izakaya, the Japanese pub where dinner is a dozen small plates, sake by the round, and a table nobody rushes. Book a table for the ramen on a slow-simmered broth and the ishiyaki wagyu you sear on a hot stone, with takoyaki, karaage, sushi, 40+ sakes, and a Japanese whisky list around them. Right for a date, an after-work seat, or a group ordering wide, with a team that knows you by the second visit. In the Waypointe courtyard, owner-run by a Yokohama native since 2020.
“The vibe was particularly quiet the evening my bestie and I went. We had a variety of entrees….that fried chicken …omg….smh…literally amazing. I had a salmon bowl which was so fresh and tasty. We also had drinks, amazing too! The waiter was super pleasant and kept checking on us. The restroom could have been a bit more today but overall a 10/10. Looking forward to going back and exploring that menu a bit more….maybe a lot more 😊”
“Had the pleasure of being served by Chris. They weren’t open for another 20min but he didn’t send me off. Welcome me and sat me. (Thank you for that) I started with the sashimi platter, fresh, delicious and exactly what I’d hoped for. My entree was the tempura fish tacos. Mouth watering, crispy, yummy!! Definitely a winner. Also they have happy hour 4-6pm daily and All day Thursdays.”
“First time here and we were very happy with all of the food. I go to a lot of ramen places and usually leave disappointed but this one is very good, the ramen had lots of flavor and the appetizers were great as well. I generally don't like tofu but had the tofu appetizer today and loved it--amazing flavor in the sauce. I will definitely be coming back again.”
“Had high hopes as it's said they serve authentic Japanese ramen, but was somewhat let down. Spicy Miso Ramen 3/5 - the taste itself was good but the biggest disappointment was that the broth was cold, or at room temperature at the best. Karage 5/5 - Was delicious. Exactly at the same quality as what you would get in Japan. Highly recommended. Sashimi platter 2/5 - Was fresh but not worth the $20 price tag given how small the portion is. Sushi rolls 5/5 - Had the Salmon Avocado Roll, California Roll and Salmon Futomaki. Nothing too special but was freshly prepared. My family loved them.”
“Bruhhhhhh.... recently landed @ HR&I for a quick lunch while in the area and suffering from a serious slurrrp attack seriously in need of soupy noodz! Ramen isnt just an obsession to some its an addiction and I fall into both categories. Me n my company were really looking forward to it but perhaps we made a mistake coming at lunch. Our waitress/host was not very good at all. N I feel bad since she seemed very nice but no knowledge of the menu, of the style of food, of how to be attentive (never asked us one thing) . Basically threw the whole experience off right from the start. Overall the food is executed well although how close to traditional im not exactly sure.... the different ramens arent very descriptive as you get other items in your bowl that aren't listed in print. (Me not being a fan of menma would have omitted it had I known, ruined the whole thing for me) Was more a fan of the apps then the mains. The flavors are there and they have some unique offerings, I would suggest coming for dinner. We'll see if we come back in the future n try that service then.”
