“We got a few recommendations from friends to come here while we were visiting Anchorage and I’m so glad we did! The drinks were great and such a cool experience. Food was delicious! Derek was our server and he was fantastic!”

“On our Monday evening arrival into Anchorage we chanced getting a table here. For a Monday night this place was pumping and full. We were kindly guided by one of the hostesses to use Open Table to book places. We sat at the ramen bar which was great to see the cooking team hard at work delivering on the different orders. The kitchen is well-coordinated and the drinks and food were delivered in a timely way. My pet peeve is when the mains arrive before the starters and cocktail drinks. It was not the case here. The cocktails were very good. The scotch tamago was a bit too hard-fried on the outside. The halibut cheeks and dark horse ramen were both excellent. The service was seamless. The decor and vibe was on par with what you could find in LA or NYC. Amazing first dinner in Anchorage, arigatou!”

“This is the Japanese restaurant that should be in Tokyo because it's so authentic! We had the lovely Jacqueline as our server with a happy genuine smile who offered her suggestions and checked back on what we thought of our choices of Ramen, beer, everything. The Matcha Old Fashioned was so tasty even though we're not matcha tragics! We started with bao buns full of tasty pork etc, then the Business Lounge and Dark Horse ramen came! We barely talked other than say wow and wow! The Miso Baked Alaska was flaming awesome! Great suggestion Jacqueline! DO NOT miss this when in Anchorage, very good value and therefore a queue of 20+ waiting for their 5pm opening! Their policy of 50% reserve table and 50% walkin should be the norm for every restaurant!!😍”

“I stopped in at Whiskey Ramen before the dinner rush and couldn’t have timed it better. The hostess kindly seated me at the bar on the second floor — a great spot near where the chefs were preparing and plating dishes. The place has a swanky, modern vibe — relaxed but refined — with a team that clearly loves what they do. From my seat, I could watch the kitchen in action. It was fascinating to see how they preheated the serving boxes before assembling each order — every step was done with care and precision. I ordered The Hook — rich tonkotsu broth, thin noodles, pork belly chashu, torched tomato, 6.5-minute egg, wood ear mushrooms, scallions, and mayu. Every element was outstanding: the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the broth had incredible depth (you can tell it simmered for days), and the torched tomato added a bright, smoky flavor. The egg was so perfect I wished I’d ordered two! I also had their famous Old Fashioned, and it did not disappoint — perfectly balanced with the right mix of sweetness and complexity. It paired beautifully with the ramen. I even got to chat with the staff about their meats — they proudly showed their certificates of authentic Japanese wagyu and shared some great insights. Everyone was friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about their craft. From presentation to flavor to service (and that cocktail!), Whiskey Ramen is a standout dining experience in Alaska. Highly recommend if you’re looking for phenomenal ramen and drinks in a stylish, welcoming setting.”

“Whisky & Ramen has such a cool, hidden vibe—it’s easily one of the most atmospheric spots in Anchorage The Drinks: Started with the Komorebi Old Fashioned and it was excellent. Perfectly balanced and clearly made by people who know their spirits. The Food: The Dark Horse: This ramen was good. The broth had depth and everything was fresh. To be honest, I’ve had better ramen elsewhere, but there was nothing to complain about here. It’s a very solid bowl. Tebasaki Chicken Wings: These were a highlight. Super crispy and seasoned perfectly. Definitely don't skip these. Chocolate Birthday Cake: Ended the night with this and it was the perfect rich finish to the meal. Overall: It’s a bit spendy, but you’re paying for the experience and the high-quality bar. It’s a great spot for a date or a nice night out in Anchorage. I’ll definitely be back, even if just for the wings and another cocktail!”
