“My food was absolutely amazing! The server was warm, welcoming, and made the experience even better. I loved everything, from the fried chicken salad to the flat biscuit sandwich… every bite was on point. The flight was exactly what we needed to kick off our adventure! I’ve always loved the Vegas location, so when I heard there was one in San Diego, I knew I had to check it out. Safe to say, it did not disappoint”
“Plate proportions know no limit at Hash House A Go Go!!! The French Toast consisted of 3 TEXAS TOAST sized pieces, deliciously covered in Vermont Maple Syrup, sliced bananas, and walnut pieces. Come hungry. Eat aplenty. Leave happy. This formula has clearly worked for this San Diego mainstay. Highly recommend trying this establishment, but you gotta get there early as the place gets packed!”
“The best brunch spot in California! You gotta bring your appetite as the portions are colossal! You can honestly order a plate and share with someone else. This place was so delicious that we had to return the following day! The lavender/mint and watermelon lemonade were both incredible! Not too sweet and you can taste the fruit a true 5 out of 5! The menu is incredible with ample breakfast and lunch options. There was a specialty menu on a smaller paper. My wife ordered a crab Benedict. A blue crab cake on top of a biscuit with fried egg and some type of sauce. This dish was excellent and the combination worked well together and was a 5 out of 5! The banana foster French toast tasted as good as it looks! I would rate a 4.4 out of 5. The pineapple upside down flapjack was super delicious. Good texture and taste. I would rate a 4.6 out of 5. The sage fried chicken was a 5 out of 5 day one and a 4 out of 5 the following day. Both days the chicken was fried superb. Day one the seasoning was close to perfection! The eggs and breakfast potatoes both were good and the food presentation matched the taste. I would like to return and try the lunch menu as the meatloaf has ample good reviews. The service both days was five star! Everyone is friendly and ready to assist if needed. Would recommend anyone in the San Diego area that loves really good breakfast this is the place to visit!”
“Had brunch here today. Saw the blue crab cake Benedict on the menu and ordered it but was completely unprepared for the behemoth they’d bring out. It was absolutely enormous and so smothered in the creamy pesto sauce that I couldn’t really figure out which part I was eating. Overall, it was just okay. I gathered that this place is more about being plentiful than being quality, but the elements on the plate pesto cream sauce, melted mozzarella, the egg, crab cake, biscuits and mashed potatoes—were just absolute overkill and didn’t make sense together. My husband got The Barrio and it was surprisingly incredibly small with not much meat and not very flavorful. A miss for us, but service was really great!”
“Our family has never quite shaken the memory of a brunch we once enjoyed in Las Vegas. It was the kind of meal that lingers long after the trip ends—the kind you talk about, crave, and quietly compare every brunch to thereafter. That lingering affection ultimately led us to the San Diego location during our recent trip, drawn by the hope of reliving those indulgent, over-the-top flavors we remembered so fondly. At first glance, the menu felt reassuringly familiar, closely mirroring what we had seen in Las Vegas. But once the food arrived, reality set in. While perfectly enjoyable, the flavors here told a different story. The Las Vegas dishes had felt bolder, more polished, and unmistakably theatrical. In contrast, the San Diego location delivered food that was good—comforting even—but more in line with what you’d expect from a well-loved local brunch spot rather than a destination-worthy dining experience. To be clear, this is not a critique of quality. The food is solid, satisfying, and clearly popular with locals for a reason. Still, expectations matter. Perhaps it was our own nostalgia that raised the bar too high. For those planning a visit to Hash House A Go Go, here’s the honest takeaway: if you want the full, signature experience that made the name famous, Las Vegas is where the magic truly shines.”
