In 2007 we decided to make a dramatic change in the way we farm. The decision to uproot our sour cherries as well as some other trees allowed for much needed space for the planting of young vines. After much research and listening to advice offered from reputable friends in the winemaking industry, Cabernet Franc and Riesling were chosen as the best contenders for our flag-ship varietals. For a while, some of that fruit was sold to other wineries. Eventually we realized that starting our own label was the next step in our growth.
“Really nice winery and the outdoor patio is nice. Food is very good.”
“We recently went to Honsberger Estate for Mother’s Day brunch. The staff were all wonderful, attentive and accommodated a table with two younger children. The space didn’t feel overcrowded or overwhelming like other similar establishments do on this day. Lineups for the Buffett were largely nonexistent. The quality of the food was exceptional, and I want to give a shoutout to the chef making Omelettes at the station- he had the perfect personality and created a cool, welcoming vibe to everyone around him. I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name. I also observed management speaking to staff, requesting for more items to be replenished in the buffet, and it was nice to see a level of respect and appreciation in the tone used. So often I’ve seen managers stressing over not enough of something and barking at staff to fix it. It was obvious the staff there enjoy working there and that came through in the service. It was easy to find, easy to park - we will definitely come back again.”
“Our extended family of 12 went to Honesberger Estates for a birthday brunch. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. Very quaint, warm and rustic. There is ambient noise but very easy to carry on a conversation. The food was absolutely to die for. The chicken and waffles were warm and fluffy. Perfectly balanced. Each beautiful dish came with a side of fresh fruit and we loved the antique mismatched dinnerware. The staff were so welcoming, warm, friendly and kind. They made our brunch that much nicer. Huge thanks to Honesberger Estates for a wonderful experience.”
“I tell ya what,,, phenomenal food. The fresh caprese from their garden salad, I could have done two of them and loved em both. The chicken and mushrooms was great as well. The kitchen was unfortunately a little behind but the wine made me happy so I got nothing to complain about.”
“Had read good reviews for the restaurant. Weather was poor all day and upon arrival it was clear there was a private event in half the venue which we came to find out was supposed to be outside but moved in due to the rain. Great, singer/guitarist playing in the front next to the bar. It felt like this was one of our server’s first few tables. The flavour of all the dishes were very good, but the issue was too much sauce and stuff on everything. The fire roasted edamame was swimming in oil. The pepperonis pizza had an in ordinate amount of honey drizzled(poured) across pizza. The asparagus risotto was thick and heavy on the Parmesan. Less is more. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir we had with dinner and from the winery were delicious. outstanding. We had high hopes for this dining experience and for the price point and serving experiment there is a lot of room for improvement.”
