Whether you’re coming for a drink or a multi-course meal, we’re happy to welcome you in and treat you to the best of Irish hospitality. Our building is equipped with three bars, each with its own distinct feel and ambiance. Our intention in opening Kirwan’s was to celebrate our homeland by making your experience as authentically Irish as possible. To do this, we contracted eight carpenters from Ireland who flew over with huge containers bearing all of our interior furnishings and materials. Every bar, tile, table, chair, panel and photograph you see is from Ireland. Please email us at kirwansonthewharf@gmail.com for any reservation or party inquiries .
“After walking around the National Mall we ventured down to the Wharf area and found Kirwan’s on the Wharf. We found a seat at the bar but they have outdoor, indoor and upstairs seating available. We shared the fish & chips which was perfect for us. The drinks were also great after walking all morning. Bartender was great in answering questions we had about the menu.”
“Kirwan’s on the Wharf was the perfect way to end a day of exploring DC. We were seated outdoors right along the water, and the setting alone made the experience. The harbor views, the movement of the city around us, and the energy of the Wharf created a space that felt both lively and surprisingly romantic at the same time. Even with the bustle, it never felt overwhelming. It struck that perfect balance where you feel part of the atmosphere, but still able to enjoy your own moment. The food and service rounded out the experience nicely, but it was really the setting that made it memorable. It’s one of those places where you sit a little longer than planned, just taking it all in. If you’re looking for a great waterfront dining experience in DC, this is absolutely worth a visit.”
“Had a good experience here. Got seated right away even though it was busy. I had the lobster roll, which was pretty good although it could have been fresher. My husband had a burger and he liked it. The location is a great spot near Union Stage. It was a nice day so all of the doors were open and there was patio seating. The service was prompt and we didn't have to wait long for food. Would definitely eat here again.”
“The food was good but nothing spectacular for the price. You are definitely paying a fair bit of your money towards the ambience of the restaurant and for being at the Waterfront, that’s for sure. If you do come here I 100% recommend you to try their lamb stuff, especially their shepherd’s pie. Honestly maybe I would’ve had a better experience if I got one of those. I tried it and as someone who normally doesn’t even like lamb, it was quite good.”
“The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and the servers are friendly and attentive. I ordered the fish and chips. I enjoyed the chips and the tartar sauce the came with them. The batter for the fish was a bit doughier/greasier than I would have liked but not too bad; just not my favourite.”
