For more than a decade, Locavore Farm has drawn guests beyond the city and into one of the Midwest’s most distinctive dining destinations—where the table is shaped by land, fire, season, and story. Now entering Season 11, Locavore continues to redefine what farm-to-table can be: immersive, chef-driven, and deeply rooted in place. Located within reach of Chicago, Locavore is best known for its signature Dine on the Land experiences—open-air, multi-course dinners set across a regenerative farm landscape and designed for guests seeking something more transportive than a typical night out. Each evening begins with a welcome at the outdoor bar, followed by a guided farm tour and a gathering at the long table, where acclaimed chefs transform peak-season harvest into elegant, fire-kissed menus served in rhythm with the land. Live music, golden light, and a closing bonfire with s’mores carry the evening from cocktail hour into sunset and beyond. Season 11 brings Locavore’s most compelling Chef Series yet, featuring Michelin-starred talent, James Beard-recognized chefs, Food Network champions, Top Chef competitors, and celebrated culinary voices from Chicago and beyond. These dinners are not generic chef appearances. They are deeply collaborative experiences shaped by the harvest, the setting, and the kind of culinary imagination that turns a summer evening into something unforgettable. Locavore’s acclaim reflects that distinction. The farm has been named one of the five best farm dinner destinations in the Midwest and was also featured among Frommer’s Travel Guide’s Top 100 destinations in the world through Wild Luxury. For Chicago-area diners, Locavore offers something increasingly rare: a reason to leave the city and arrive somewhere that feels both refined and real—where the meal is not simply plated beautifully, but grown, gathered, and experienced in place. More than a venue, Locavore is a working regenerative farm built around restoration—of soil, of beauty, of connection, and of the shared table. That grounding is what gives each dinner its depth. Here, the farm is not backdrop. It is source. Come for the chef. Stay for the land. Leave with the story. Season 11 awaits at Locavore Farm. Here’s an even tighter closing line option with more luxury appeal: A destination worth leaving Chicago for. A dinner worth remembering long after summer ends.
“The minute I got out of my car I was greeted warmly by Paul who checked in my guest and I and explained the process for the evening. Next we were offered an appetizer (and invited to come back for more!), while we waited for the farm tour. There was so much info shared during the tour about the history of the farm and the family themselves. Each course of the dinner was exquisitely planned and prepared. Obviously the chef knows how to combine the seasonal veggies to come up with colorful and tasty sides and the entree. The sourdough chocolate chip cookies for dessert were amazing! I certainly didn't leave hungry! All through the evening we were serenaded by live acoustic music and a vocalist with a beautiful voice. After dinner we sat back with a drink (cash bar) and enjoyed the summer breeze and meeting other diners as well as staff... including the resident felines who came out once dinner ended. Some reviews have given a negative on the cost. While the evening was on the pricy side, I do not regret anything and will absolutely go back again. It isn't just a meal being served for the price, the cost goes toward the development of the farm and land, in addition to the wonderful programs they offer for kids to learn about and be a part of the farming experience! I highly recommend everyone try the Saturday experience. My next stop is the Thursday evening ala cart experience 😉”
“Have done Dine on the Land dinners over the past two summers and always love our experience. Farmer jones is incredibly passionate about her land and sharing this experience with all those who pass through; also enjoy reading her newsletter. Even though we haven’t had a chance to partake in other events, it is clear there will be continued growth over the years. Nice escape from Chicago-land Despite those complaining about the price, you are getting a relaxed, 5 hour experience where you never feel rushed to leave. To put it into further perspective, farmers are exactly who need our support during inflationary time and economic hardships; they are who keep food on our tables while working unfathomably hard hours to most. Suggest shifting perspective to understand how to be supportive of these types of businesses and if not an experience can afford, then express so in person rather than as a negative comment. “We attended the Saturday night Farm to Table dinner and stayed overnight at the cottage. It was the perfect little get-away. We received so much more than expected that I would rate it as a good value. Guided tour of the farm and a primer on sustainable farmer and agratourism. The food was creative and delcious, expertly prepared. Friendly, fun guests and hosts.”
“We go to any dining event we can here & every time leave with perma-smiles & endless memories ! We are Chicagoans who are glued to the city, but also love a night on the farm with pure, delicious, food & the nicest people you could meet (which is saying a lot, since we live in the midwest). It's not a cheap way to spend a summer evening, but worth every penny (:”
“Ok first of all, let me start out by saying this is an awesome dining experience. Beautiful land, beautiful sites, friendly people and staff. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this place. But,,, we spent $85 had five beers in a plastic cup, and beings they were out of burger., My wife opted for the chicken, I on the other hand, wasn’t interested in anything on the menu at that point.so passed. Chicken was just smoked, couldn’t taste a seasoning if there was any,,bone in breast on a ladle of rice a cherry tomato and a few other veggies. Cold as can be.This was all served on a paper plate, no problem, I get it. But $85 for that has me wondering. Just a thought, and like I said we loved the concept, people and staff. Will most likely try it again ,, with hopes.”
