“Second time dining here. Exceptional restaurant in downtown Burlington and a real gem. The food is modern asian with French technique and we enjoyed it thoroughly. They have several menu choices allowing all guests to tailor their experience. My son had a shellfish allergy and they made an accommodation with Lamb which was superb. We’ll definitely be back.”
“By far one of the best experiences at a fine dining restaurant I’ve had in a while. I celebrated my “me-date” birthday at No. 8, as recommended by a chef-friend. The star of the show: the Shanghai Style Uni Rice Cake -- with a generous amount of uni, perfectly fluffy rice on the inside, crispy on the outside, and torched seaweed. An absolute showstopper. I chose the Angler five-course seafood-focused tasting menu (there’s also a meat and vegan/vegetarian option). Every course was thoughtfully composed and executed. To top it off, the kitchen surprised me with a gluten-free chocolate puck as a birthday treat; completely unprompted. Chef Stephen Baidacoff and the staff even signed my birthday menu (also, unprompted, might I add). That kind of hospitality is genuinely rare. I'm already planning for my next trip back, once the seasonal menu changes. If you’re a fan of outstanding food and an even more impeccable experience... I couldn’t speak more highly of No. 8. It belongs on every foodie's "Must Try" fine dining list in Ontario.”
“No. 8 in Burlington continues to exceed our expectations every single time we visit. We’ve dined here multiple times, and the consistency is just as impressive as the creativity. The space strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, ideal for both date nights and special occasions. We celebrated a birthday there tonight and the team truly went above and beyond to make it memorable. The food is exceptional, thoughtfully composed plates, bold yet balanced flavors, and flawless execution from start to finish. It's the staff that make this restaurant truly exceptional, from Chef Stephen and Chef Nick, plus their entire team, make this restaurant the 5/5 star review. Any true foodie needs to experience this place at least once. Service is polished, warm, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling forced. Plus they have an amazing play list of music! Burlington is lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber, it's definitely deserving of a Michelin star. We’ll continue coming back and recommending it to everyone we know!”
“Unbelievable!!! We had such an amazing experience here. Very intimate vibe, the servers hosted us beautifully—very knowledgeable—and explained every part of the meal with the wine parings! Charlotte was our service and she was super friendly and really knew what she was talking about. My boyfriend and I felt like we went on a tour of the world after doing this tasting. 100% worth every penny and will be coming here again. The attention to detail shows that this place was made with love. #NO8BNR”
“What a gem! Discovered this place on a Reddit post of all places and went for an anniversary dinner. We showed up early but were graciously accommodated right away. The vibe is cool and intimate but not pretentious. We ordered the tasting menu and a couple of cocktails and were blown away by the food and service. Our waitress was Catherine and she was attentive and friendly. The chefs including Chef Nick and Chef Stephen presented the dishes to our table, answered questions and spoke to us like we were old friends. It felt like we had inside jokes at the end of the night The tasting menu featured a gorgeous crudo with a bacon-dashi gelee that I can still taste. And their signature French Toast which was a smooth and elegantly piped pate full of umami on top of a perfect bite of brioche with crisp chicken skin and the most flavourful (25yo) balsamic I have ever tried. The interplay of Asian ingredients was just masterful. From Turbot green curry to an elevated brilliant Cheung fun (rice noodle roll) that brought a nostalgic but innovative take on a dim sum classic. My husband had the standard dessert - a layering of squash and red bean paste with French techniques (Pumpkin sabayon? say what?) that he maintains was delicious. My request for an alternate dessert was gladly accommodated and I got to try an elegant, floral symphony of peach. Miguel the bartender surprised us with a complimentary dessert cocktail with our final course. We have done several tasting menus including - most recently - Hexagon and Quetzal and this was the best so far. The best part was having all the chefs sign our menu at the end of the night. An anniversary keepsake to remember. We will return, with friends, to try other tasting menus here. I hope they win the title of Best New Restaurant. It would be WELL deserved. #NO8BNR”
