A place with food and drinks that have nothing to do with unicorns or sparkles.
“Chef was brilliant. We had 3 dishes, the only ket down was the 3 dishes were very heavy. Would of pick something else if I was told that all 3 dishes are kinda the same. Other than that, food and drinks were good”
“Unbelievably amazing experience at this hidden gem - *no* sign at all indicating where to go. Just look for the neon unicorn on the interior wall. We're visiting from the US East Coast and I'd left one meal up to serendipity to choose after we arrived. I think I just opened Google Maps and randomly chose this place, though to be honest, what's not to love about the name "Unicorn Sparkles?" Super tiny little space, reminded me a lot of restaurants I've been to in Europe, and we sat watching the staff work their culinary magic. We ordered the cacio e pepe and the sheep's milk gnocchi - both were equally incredible, although personally I have to give the edge to the cacio e pepe, because the sauce simply had amazing layers of flavor. We ended with a decadent, rich chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream - so rich, and not too much sugar. The staff are the best friends you didn't know you had - funny, welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate about their food. I have been fortunate to have eaten at some really wonderful places in different parts of the world, and Unicorn Sparkles is one I'll happily add to my (rather short) list of favorites. (Apparently not many folks from out of town know about it ..) Did I live here I'd definitely make Unicorn Sparkles a regular destination - just go if you get a chance!”
“this is truly some of the best food i’ve ever had. my dad and i came here after i begged him for months, i had really high expectations but they were exceeded tenfold! we sat at the bar and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly towards us. they have extremely high quality food for an amazing price. my favourite meal of the night was definitely the dungeness crab ravioli, that sauce is truly the best thing i’ve ever tasted and the ravioli filling was delectable. we also got the fresh oysters, rib eye with ravioli, and the duck with leeks. everything about this place is extremely special, i already can’t wait to come back!”
“Unreal food & service. We paid for the tasting menu at $75/person and got so. much. food. Really really good food. The portion & quality was well worth the price. We had a late reservation and the kitchen was more than happy for us to stay and chat well after the rest of guests had left. No notes other than the recommendation to wear stretchy pants cause you’re gonna be STUFFED.”
“It has a nice atmosphere, and there’s a bit of fun in finding the place since it’s hidden. Unfortunately, I think my expectations may have been too high, or I might have visited on the wrong day since the menu changes frequently—or perhaps I simply chose the wrong dishes. The pig fat potato was just a fried potato, nothing special unfortunately. It was dense and even a bit hard. The shrimp with elephant garlic and basil was the best dish among what we ordered. The Dungeness crab fettuccine with saffron and parsley was disappointing. The noodles were not fettuccine at all; they were actually rice noodles. The crab’s fishy flavor and the lemony notes didn’t harmonize well with the parsley/basil purée. The $65 brisket was tender near the fatty parts but dry in the lean meat. It was definitely not something worth the price. The carbonara was also not impressive. Overall, considering the atmosphere and the pricing, the food sadly did not meet expectations.”
