“Birthday trip to Charleston and chose Church and Union for my dinner. We had a short wait for our table after arriving on time for our reservation. The host mentioned grabbing a drink at the bar while we waited but since the place was packed we waited outside instead. Within a few minutes we were called and led through the black curtains behind the host stand to a small intimate dining room. So glad we had a table in here so we could hear each other speak. Our server, Rhett, was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel at home. A small dish of chips and hummus was delivered on the house to get us started. We started with a couple glasses of wine and the F* G* Agnoltti ($19.00). It did not disappoint. Small portion but rich and delicious. We chose a lively bottle of Pinot Noir with our entrees which were both the Steak Diane ($57.00). Again, not a large portion but absolutely perfect. We decided on sharing the Death by Chocolate ($14.00) for dessert which finished up our red wine wonderfully. As you can see, the prices are high on the menu. That said, they know what they're doing both with the food and the service! An excellent birthday dinner.”
“Absolutely unforgettable experience! This restaurant is located in a beautiful historic building that used to be a church, and the atmosphere itself is something truly magical. The interior is stunning and creates such a unique and charming feeling from the moment you walk in. But the food… the chef is truly gifted. You can feel the passion and talent in every dish. Please make time to try the chicken from the menu, it sounds like a simple dish, but it was absolutely incredible. The crispy skin, the sauce, and every little detail were perfection. I also have to mention the cocktails, each one feels like a piece of art, both in presentation and taste. And don’t skip the desserts; you will not regret it! A place you want to come back to again and again. Thank you for such an amazing experience!”
“Church and Union is a beautiful restaurant made from a church. When we first walked in we were taken by the decor and stain glass. When you sit down they give you this delicious hummus with chips. This hummus is not something you can order so enjoy. We shared their house made ravioli for our appetizer, which gave us 3 each. For dinner we shared their beef tenderloin and a side of broccoli. Keep in mind that their sides are served family size. Everything was cooked to perfection with lots of flavor. Will definitely return.”
“I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere feels open, airy, and almost magical it has such a unique charm that makes the whole experience special. My breakfast was delicious, and my favorite part of the plate was definitely the English muffin ,simple but so good! The mimosa was also refreshing and perfectly balanced. The staff who took care of our table were very attentive and genuinely friendly, always smiling and making us feel welcome. If you’re ever in the area, this is definitely a spot you should try at least once!”
“First time here and love it! The atmosphere is insanely terrific! We did not have reservations, so we ate at the bar. Staff was very kind and prompt with drinks and food. The Lamb Burger was scrumptious, with a gluten free bun. The side of fries was just right. My friends had the ravioli and they loved theirs as well. Great time, great job!”
