Côte Ouest Bistro is a contemporary French bistro led by partners Laurent Monchicourt & Martin Sarrailh. In April 2021, the pair transformed the former Baker Street Bistro into a modern 21st century neighborhood gem. At the heart of Laurent and Martin's partnership lies a shared dream: to create a restaurant that embraces guests like family, offering a haven where they can delight in delectable food and wine, surrounded by warm companionship. Nestle into one of the bay window seats and enjoy conversation over a plate of charcuterie with the perfect glass of Bordeaux. Chef Sarrailh prepares seasonal specialties as well as favorite French classics like Steak Frites and Duck Confit. The custard-soaked Croissant French Toast is not to be missed if you stop by for brunch on the sunny terrace. Côte Ouest Bistro has been featured in Forbes magazine and The Infatuation and was named one of the "Top 100 Brunch Restaurants in the Nation 2024" by Open Table.
“Wonderful and welcoming neighborhood eatery. Food was great and the staff even better. I am not a local but if I were i would eat here all the time. Next time I come to San Francisco I will make sure I return to this bistro in the Marina. Definitely worth a visit.”
“It’s a small restaurant, though the street patio adds some welcome breathing room. Soft background music creates a pleasant atmosphere, and the elegant tableware sets a nice tone. Warm complimentary bread with butter is a thoughtful touch. Service is fine overall, though nothing exceptional. Escargots de Bourgogne The escargots are very good baked in parsley and garlic butter, fragrant and flavorful. The puff pastry doesn’t add much in terms of taste, at least for me, but it does provide a pleasant textural contrast. It's a good dish even with pastry. Xipirons a la Plancha Perfectly cooked, tender calamari paired with sautéed serrano ham, greens, and a spicy yet manageable. The portion is generous, and the flavors come together beautifully. Rillettes de Lapin The rabbit rillettes are very tender, with some pleasantly chewy pieces of meat that work well alongside Dijon mustard and cornichons. The combination of mild sweetness, bitterness, and acidity is balanced and satisfying. Île Flottante A truly outstanding dessert — easily one of the best I’ve had in the last four years. The airy, soft meringue has a gentle sweetness that blends perfectly with the richer, creamier sweetness of the crème anglaise. Thinly sliced almonds add just the right amount of crunch. If you have a sweet tooth and live in or visit San Francisco, this is a must‑try. Tarte Fine aux Pommes A very good apple tart served with apple sauce and vanilla ice cream, though it inevitably feels understated next to the exceptional Île Flottante. And there is a great dessert wine - Le Pere Jules 5 Year Pommeau de Normandie, - it’s another way to finish a dinner. The restaurant may be small, but the food is impressive, and several dishes truly stand out. Highly recommended.”
“It was Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was fully booked but the lady was kind enough to ask us to wait for a while to get us seats at the bar. I ordered chicken liver mousse and frites while my friend ordered benedict croissant. Both were delicious. The mousse was so smooth and delightful.”
“🇫🇷 An Authentic French Brunch Masterpiece If you are looking for the absolute best brunch in San Francisco, look no further than Cote Ouest Bistro. This charming spot in Cow Hollow/Presidio is a true neighborhood gem that delivers a level of authenticity and culinary excellence that is hard to find. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the stage for a world-class meal. I’ve been to many French bistros, but this experience was on another level entirely. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and the quality of ingredients really shone through in every single bite. 🥩 Perfect Steak Frites and the Best Benedict The mains were the true stars of the show. I am particularly picky about my steak, but the steak frites here were executed flawlessly. I ordered it medium-well, and unlike most places that tend to overcook or burn the meat at that temperature, Cote Ouest served it perfectly juicy and tender. It was seasoned beautifully and paired with some of the best fries in the city. The Eggs Benedict was also an "OMG" highlight—the hollandaise was rich and velvety, and the overall dish was easily one of the best versions I’ve ever had. It is a must-order for any brunch enthusiast. 🥚 Phenomenal Starters and Presentation We started our meal with the deviled eggs, and I was blown away by both the presentation and the taste. They weren't just standard eggs; they were presented phenomenally and had a depth of flavor that was truly unexpected. It’s clear the kitchen puts as much effort into their small plates and shareables as they do their main entrees. The balance of creaminess and seasoning was spot on, making them a perfect opening act for the heavier dishes to follow. ☕ Exquisite Dessert and Coffee Pairings To round out the meal, we couldn't resist the apple tarte (Tarte Fine aux Pommes), and it was the perfect sweet finish. The pastry was delicate and crisp, and the apples were perfectly caramelized. Pairing it with a high-quality espresso and a cappuccino made the end of the meal just as enjoyable as the beginning. The coffee isn't just an afterthought here; it is well-crafted, with a smooth finish that complemented the dessert perfectly. Expert Cooking: The ability to keep a medium-well steak juicy is a mark of a truly skilled kitchen. Warm Atmosphere: The bistro has a cozy, authentic feel that makes you feel like you've been transported to Paris. Consistency: From the coffee to the main course, every element of the meal was consistent in its high quality. Friendly Service: The staff was attentive and contributed to the overall great experience. 👍 Final Verdict: A New Sunday Tradition I am giving Cote Ouest Bistro a well-deserved 5-star rating. It is a rare find where the food, service, and atmosphere all align perfectly. Whether you are looking for a romantic date spot or just want a high-end weekend meal, this is the place to go. I am already planning my next visit because this was, without a doubt, the best brunch experience I’ve had in a very long time.”
“The Croissant French Toast was a creative creation that lived up to its name and blended elements of both croissant and French toast, but the French toast was too French for my taste. It didn’t cater to my inner American, which salivates for sugar like how Spicy Mike craves crawfish on a windy May day. If I could tweak it I would use a sweeter sauce, like a cinnamon roll cream cheese frosting or even just your traditional maple syrup. And if we’re talking texture, I think it could benefit from more of that classic croissant crisp and flakiness on the outside of the French toast. Maybe I’m just in love with Arsicault, but I was yearning for those classic croissant layers - like the layers of pages across that new romance novel that you can’t put down. 4.3/5 creative but not quite craveable.”
