Nestled high above LoHi on the fifth floor of 2930 Umatilla, El Five boasts spectacular, unobstructed views of the downtown Denver skyline. The menu is an homage to the Mediterranean and features small plates built on bold flavors found throughout the region: Spain, North Africa, the Middle East. Inside, the space is understated and sensual, flanked by a large, open-air patio for sun-kissed Colorado nights. As the newest restaurant in the Edible Beats family, El Five celebrates the confluence of flavors, ideas and geographies made possible by a subtle shift in perspective. Please join us for Happy Hour 7 nights a week from 4-5pm.
“Sunset tapas + wine + that Denver skyline view . Incredible rooftop views of downtown Denver. Great wine selection with a staff that knows the list. Tapas were all excellent. Fun vibe, great service, perfect day night or group dinner. Get a table near the edge at sunset.”
“My husband brought me here to celebrate my birthday. The dinner was delicious! Being our first time here the waitress took her time to explain the menu. I really appreciated the servers explaining our dishes to us. It really added to our experience. The views from this restaurant are breathtaking. I would recommend going in the evening time.”
“El Five is one of those places that lives up to its reputation. After finally visiting, it’s easy to see why it’s considered a staple in Denver. The menu has been recently updated and the food reflects that with strong execution across the board. Standout dishes included the mushroom paella, Turkish pizza with halloumi, and the poached cod. Everything was well prepared and full of flavor. The drinks were also well done. The margarita with salt foam and the frosé were both highlights. The atmosphere is a major draw. The views of downtown are impressive and the patio is one of the best in the city. The interior design also feels thoughtful and cohesive. Service was excellent and made the overall experience feel smooth and welcoming. Desserts were a strong finish, especially the chocolate cake and kunefe. Overall, El Five delivers a well rounded dining experience with great food, drinks, and views.”
“I came here with my husband and two of our friends and we all shared everything. This is the way to do it so you can try more. We ordered: - Spreads of the Med - Carbon Culture Mushroom Paella - Matzo Ball Soup Dumplings - Harissa Eggplant Fries - Goat Cheese Croquettas - Bison Meatballs - Mushroom Bourekas - Turkish Kunefe - Crema Catalana - Basque Cheesecake Every single thing was amazing. If I had to pick favorites, it would probably be the eggplant fries, paella, and goat cheese croquettes. I don't usually like eggplant but the crispiness of the fries really improved the texture and the sauce was so good. All three desserts were fantastic. I'm not sure that I can pick a favorite. Linger was previously my favorite restaurant in Denver and now it might be El Five. This restaurant group has some amazing restaurants and I can't wait to try the others. Go with a group and order as much as you can. You won't regret it!”
“I cannot tell you how NOT worth the price this place is. Everyone in our party agreed and two of them were from NYC. The service was good and at points somewhat overly attentive and then not attentive enough when we actually needed the server. Nearly every dish has pork in it which we don’t eat. They did manage to make the sausage without the pork casing which turned into cubes. Even half of the desserts had pork gelatin in it. It is now a running joke in our group of friends. Pork is one of those cheats in cooking like cheese or sugar. With enough of it you can make anything taste good. All that to say that we found the flavors in 4 out of the 5 dishes we ordered to be seriously lacking. The chocolate cake was so strong in passionflower that it wasn’t worth finishing. We sat at a table that was so dark we had to turn our phone lights on to read the menu. We will not go here again.”
