“Ambience and food are top tier. All items were uniquely Mexican and unapologetically tasty. Classic cheese enchilada was my favorite item because of the good balance of cheese and spice. Con queso was excellent as well. Fajitas were out of the world too. The portion sizes were generous. Overall, a great experience and I’ll definitely come back. That said, the service was a bit sloppy. They made us wait a bit for table in spite of reservation and our order was messed up a bit and one then forgotten (luckily we wanted to cancel it so it worked out for us). But I’m definitely coming back.”

“The Ambiance: Elena's was dubbed the hottest new Mexican restaurant in town, so I booked a table months in advance to see what the hype was about. The space is gorgeous (exactly as beautiful as it looks online) and the service is outstanding. The Food: We ordered the chicken empanadas and the crab enchiladas (a first for me!), alongside a few other items. While the quality is good, the flavor profile just wasn't for me. This menu is designed for comfort food seekers who prefer the familiar Americanized staples: melted cheese, sour cream, flour tortillas, and mild ground beef. The Verdict: It essentially feels like an elevated version of Chevy’s or On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina. It’s a pleasant experience with great aesthetics, but for me, the culinary experience didn't quite live up to the hype of being the hottest new Mexican restaurant in SF”

“As soon as we walked in you smell the woodfire. The restaurant is very pretty with plants everywhere, sky lights for lots of natural light and pastel paper banners on the ceiling. We ordered a guacamole to start. I have to say I was a bit dissapointed, it was good, but it needed a bit of salt. The rest of the meal though made up for it. The ribeye was melt in your mouth, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The halibut ceviche was ah-mazing. They served it with crackers but I used the tortilla chips because hello classic combo. We also had the shredded chicken enchiladas and it was so tender and delicious. We topped the meal off with a chocoflan, which was soo good. The chocolate part tasted almost like a brownie...soo good. We ordered cocktails that were great as well like the margarita and tres leches martini. We were there for a late lunch at around 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon so no reservations needed although they didn't have reservations available for the evening.”

“We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. All the dishes were delicious! The atmosphere is a little loud , but that is okay as it feels lively. One of the best Mexican food I ever had ! Will come back for more.”
