Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. “Thank you so much for a wonderful and joyful experience! The Slye family and friends, who we include as our family, shared in the celebration of my husband’s 70th birthday! It was a tremendous success!!!❤️❤️”
“Outstanding food, exceptional service, beautiful atmosphere. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. When we got there, there was a couple gushing to the host about their meal, and they were right! We told the server it was our anniversary and our dessert came out with a chocolate wishing us a happy anniversary and he even brought us some complimentary sparkling wine. Could not recommend this place more.”
“We were so glad we passed over to other restaurants to eventually eat here for lunch on a weekday! The service was great and the food was outstanding. The atmosphere was very nice. Not too loud.”
“A fantastic Easter experience from start to finish! The service was incredibly fast and attentive. Every course was delicious, but the lamb (Carré d’Agneau) was definitely the highlight—perfectly cooked. From the starters to the dessert, everything was top-notch. Highly recommend!”
“The atmosphere and food was amazing. We enjoyed our anniversary there. They even included a small momento on our desserts to acknowledge our anniversary. The drink selection is great.”
