“Went to Nick's on State Street and Del Mar, both were very good. The first time I had the cioppino and the second time I had the meatloaf. Both were excellent. If I had to choose one, I would choose the cioppino. It was very tasty. It came with a small loaf of sourdough bread. I would rather have a bowl of rice, but it was good nonetheless. I would go back there again and try something else. I recommend this place.”
“This place is great food is excellent service is good I did not even know about this place I was actually going to get a hamburger from the place right across from it and as we're walking to it my wife's like there's a nicks here and I said I am going I went And was not disappointed it is homey food in A Fancy restaurant And decent prices I got the fried chicken which I cannot rave enough about so good definitely try this place parking there's a whole parking structure so it is easy to park And there are a lot of little shops around if you want to just spend an hour walking around looking at stuff”
“Stopped in for my first time this past weekend and honestly really enjoyed it. I am from San Diego but live in Los Angeles now and this place really reminds me a lot of Honor Bar and Hillstone. It’s a really high-end traditional American cuisine in a really bright and open space. The menu has a lot of great options on it and our server was very polite. It’s inside a shopping center and there is a multi story free parking garage attached. For my dinner, I chose the Classic Ribeye Melt and thought it was fantastic. The Parmesan crusted bread was one of the selling points for me and I thought it was honestly really good. All of their drinks were great and I already want to come back again soon to try more items. I would recommend.”
“As a pescatarian and cioppino lover, I often order this dish when I see it on the menu. I’ve tried it at multiple restaurants here in San Diego and Nick’s version was disappointing, especially compared to the very impressive boule served on the side. The broth was overly salty, and contained various amounts of potato, fennel, and carrot which weren’t cut proportionally so they were in various states of doneness. There was too much potato and very little fennel/carrot, which made it seem like the additional veg was a mistake or afterthought. There is not enough shellfish served with this dish and overcompensated by chunks of salmon (leftover pieces from another dish?). In addition, a few pieces of shrimp were not properly deveined (took that pic as home as I did not want to identify it in the restaurant). This dish leaves much room for improvement and I wish it was more enjoyable, especially given the amazing boule which I would love to have again”
“Well run restaurant with good business model. Food good, prices reasonable, nice atmosphere. Only disappointment amoung 7 dishes was fish sandwich which was heavy on filler, light on fish. Lots of wannabe Housewives of the OC walking around if you dig that sort of thing. Big markdown for selling "Chilean Sea Bass" which is an endangered fish being illegally strip mined from the Southern Ocean. Delicious but unethical to eat or serve. So disappointing. Lots of creative NA cocktails which looked interesting. Weird that wine offerings do not include vintages; tough to know if price is reasonable.”
