Nestled in the heart of East Nashville, Noko is an Asian-inspired, wood-fired restaurant inspired by wanderlust and simplicity of the region. Here, Executive Chef Dung “Junior” Vo aims to perfect the balance of new and old techniques in wood fire cooking, putting his Asian-influenced spins on familiar proteins and indigenous vegetables through smoking, searing, and roasting.
“What an amazing dinner!!! Everything that we shared was amazing! My favorite was the Lobster Bao Buns (got two orders), which they also make a Gluten free version!!! But honestly all the food was delicious!! Service was excellent from beginning to end, our server Sarah was amazing! Great atmosphere! Not sure sure what I was expecting, but I can say it exceeded anything I could imagine! Make a reservation!!! Also they donate 1% of their profits to the Nashville Children’s Alliance! Highly recommend!”
“We dined here for a birthday and received exceptional service - 3 separate people said happy birthday, including the hostess as we left. Very impressive on the way out, not just at the greeting. We had the tuna crispy rice, edamame, east side shrimp, broccolini, crab fried rice, Korean hot wings, and dole wip. The tuna crispy rice was pretty good. The tuna is the prime note, which isn't bad, but we were hoping for some delectable rice. We've had the same dish from Nobu before, so unfortunately we were comparing/hoping for something very similar. The edamame was complimentary since we were celebrating a birthday which was greatly appreciated. It was the best edemame either of us have ever had - I believe it being woodfired is what made it so good. The east side shrimp was amazing as well. Great tempura fry that retained its crunch while being lathered in sauce. A superb, elevated bang bang shrimp basically. The broccolini wasn't great in our opinion. The hosin might have just not been right for us; the dish was too rich for our liking and just not a flavor we enjoyed. The crab fried rice was okay. Maybe if it had come earlier in our meal we would've liked it better, but compared to some of the really good items we had, it was a bit bland. The Korean hot wings were good. Nice, sweet sauce and good quality meat. I thought that they were a very good value too for the quantity and size of the wings. The dole whip was exactly that, pineapple soft serve ice cream - so, good. Overall we were happy. Good food overall. Great service. Good for an occasion meal.”
“Let me start from the beginning, from the moment you step inside of this restaraunt you are greeted with the most polite and friendly staff you will meet. Every waiter and waitress is extremely knowledgeable on their menu. A lot of places you can tell their staff isn't happy... this is not the place, they all seem genuinely happy to be there! NOW let's get started with the food. I personally hate shrimp (yes seriously). I tried Noko's shrimp and the flavor burst was the most pleasant surprise ive had all year! Seriously you have to try the shrimp!!! The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection. Ive been to japanese restaraunts all over Chicago and Nashville. This is officially one of my favorite restaraunts. I will 100% be coming back.”
“I’ve been here a couple times with a good friend and had really great experiences both times. We tried 5-6 different items both times and everything has been DELICIOUS! My absolute favorites have been the hamachi crudo, Szechuan green beans, and edamame. The old fashioned was super stout and flavorful. The ambiance is lovely yet chill. Both times the service has been top-notch and they treated us to a dish on the house just to try. Overall amazing experience and I’d 100% recommend.”
“Cannot say enough about this restaurant and experience. Easily my favorite restaurant in Nashville and first recommendation when people ask where to go. Crispy rice is my favorite in Nashville, tomahawk is absolutely unreal, and all the crudos are 10/10. Food is always excellent, flavorful, and service and staff are always the best. The manager Kaden and our server Ava were so kind and attentive with recommendations and making sure everything was served well. One of those restaurants you leave in the best mood because of the food and staff. Can’t say that about a lot of places!”
