Situated in the Red Rocks country 17 miles southwest of Denver on Hwy 285, The Fort is a true replica of Bent's Fort, (1833-1849), the first American fur trade post in Colorado. The Cheyenne, Arapahoe, Kiowa and Pawnee traded and intermarried at Bent's Old Fort, creating an economic and peaceful exchange of cultures in an otherwise violent West. The Fort building is on the National Registry of Historic Places, and celebrates the many cultures that traded at Bent's Old Fort. Our menu features "New Foods of the Old West" including the best cuts of buffalo, elk and quail, grilled to perfection. There are vegetarian options inspired by American Indian recipes including Corn Beans and Squash, known as the Three Sacred Sisters. The wine list is awarded the Wine Spectator each year, and the nine dining rooms, with intimate seating, has a 350 seat capacity, with real adobe "beehive "fireplaces that burn wood in the winter and fall months. Romantic. Amazing views of the Valley and Mountains!
“This place is truly beautiful. From the moment you arrive and see the architecture, it feels like stepping somewhere far beyond Colorado. The atmosphere is incredible, both indoors and outdoors. We were lucky enough to enjoy live music by Eric, an incredibly talented musician who, if I’m not mistaken, is celebrating 40 years working there. He shared part of his story with us, which made the experience feel even more special and left us feeling more connected to both the place and Colorado itself. The staff was very kind and thoughtfully accommodated our request for a table with a view. Everything was spotless, parking was convenient, and every dish was absolutely delicious. I especially recommend the meats — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The cheese board and shrimp were excellent, and the desserts were outstanding. Negrita was an experience on its own, and the crème brûlée was equally delicious. I was also impressed by the non-alcoholic drink options, crafted with just as much care as the cocktails. Overall, this is a place you simply have to visit. Highly recommended.”
“Such a cool little place! We’re here for the artist weekend so the steakhouse isn’t open. The food truck is very good. The drinks are really good. And the atmosphere in the courtyard is awesome. The live music is really good. Love this place. Just a surprise stop!e The empanadas and the bent’s brat are awesome.”
“If you go and the weather is decent, definitely ask to sit outside. The view from the outside sitting area is amazing. I enjoyed the way they pace the dinner. You start with a drink and appetizer if you choose. After that they set you up with bread and a salad after you've ordered your main course. The food was all amazing and the server was kind and extremely helpful with the menue. Definitely a place to get out if you're in the area.”
“My husband and I got married at The Fort on May 1st, and there truly are not enough words to express our gratitude for the incredible care we received. From our very first interactions with Shirley through our wedding day, we felt completely supported, celebrated, and cared for. The level of hospitality we experienced was exceptional. A special thank you to Lynn and Aiden, who went above and beyond to make us feel truly celebrated throughout the evening. Their warmth, attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine kindness were unmatched!! From the moment they introduced themselves, we knew we were in the best hands. They took such wonderful care of us and every one of our guests. In fact, they were so personable and welcoming that we almost wanted them to sit down and join the wedding party! They are the kind of people who make hospitality feel effortless. The food was absolutely phenomenal as well, and our guests are still talking about it weeks later. Trace and I left feeling incredibly loved and cared for, and we cannot rave about them enough. Their service says so much about the people The Fort chooses to hire and the culture they have created. Thank you, Shirley, Lynn, and Aiden, for helping make one of the most important days of our lives so memorable. We will never forget your kindness.”
“Stopped at this cute place for a business lunch. They had nice fire pits setup and a beautiful view. Service was good but they messed up a few of our drinks multiple times throughout the lunch. Appetizers were OK and the taco bar they setup was also OK but I think they accidentally dumped too much spicy in the bison meat 🥵 it was HOT! We had leftover money on our tab and couldn’t drink anymore so they gave us a bottle of wine which was really nice.”
