“We had the Beef Wellington and lobster bisque, both of which were very good. The beef tartare had an overly strong mustard flavor that masked the beef, and the smoked Old Fashioned lacked smoke and tasted watered down. Walk-ins are limited to the bar or patio, and Resy appears to have several reservation errors. Overall, the food was solid, but the experience could be improved. 4 stars.”
“Beautiful historic building. Small patio outside. Everything we ordered was fabulous. We were raving about it days later. Don’t skip out on the daily specials. They offered a 1 pound lobster outside of the shell for a topping. We were impressed with the wine menu. Do not do anything special for birthdays. Do offer seating for large parties if you call for a reservation.”
“We had an unbelievable evening at the White Horse Tavern. I made reservations, and requested a semi-private table (if available). We were seated just up the stairs on the second story in the corner, and were basically all by ourselves. I ordered the beef wellington (with a Caesar salad), she ordered the grilled swordfish and we shared parmesan truffle frites and fried Brussel sprouts. Everything was absolutely amazing, and she still talks about the sprouts! Highly, highly recommend!”
“We had a wonderful experience at White Horse Tavern. The interior is absolutely stunning — historic, atmospheric, and beautifully preserved, creating a truly special dining setting. The service was impeccable: attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. And the duck was exceptional — perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I have never seen such an extensive wine list before. The selection is truly impressive and makes the experience even more memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refined and authentic dining experience in Newport.”
“This restaurant has a very rich historical background. The interior decoration is very retro. The space is not large, so it's necessary to make a reservation in advance. I ordered the Wellington steak and it was quite good. The brulee was delicious too!”
