“We came to Ryuko (West) for a date night, and it honestly turned into one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Calgary. From the moment we walked in, every single staff member greeted us warmly. The restaurant was completely full and very busy, yet somehow the atmosphere felt calm, relaxed, and well controlled. We never felt rushed, overwhelmed, or neglected at any point—which is seriously impressive given how packed it was. Our server, Sydney, was exceptional. She didn’t just take our order—she guided the entire experience. She checked in consistently without being intrusive, made genuine conversation, and walked us through how to enjoy the meal properly—like which fish to start with and how the flavors build. That level of attention made the night feel thoughtful and elevated rather than just another dinner. The food itself was outstanding. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented, the hamachi was buttery and clean, and the rolls—especially the aburi spicy salmon and softshell crab—were perfectly balanced with great texture and flavor. The gyu-tako tartare was also a standout—unique, well layered, and clearly crafted with care. Even the drinks (especially the yuzu cocktails) were spot on. What really sets this place apart is how everything comes together—high-level food, genuinely great service, and a well-designed, comfortable atmosphere. Overall: amazing food, amazing staff, amazing environment. This is exactly the kind of place you want for a date night, and we’ll definitely be back.”

“Awesome spot, spacious seating, good hosts and really great tasting food. We went there to celebrate a friends birthday and 6 of us ended up splitting 2 dinner sets for 4 and it was a great amount of food with some leftovers to take home highly recommend. They really Take their time in presentation of the food which is very appreciated and all the workers were smiles and very nice which is always a plus! 100% will be back at some point!”

“We stumbled upon this restaurant based on a google search and let me tell you we were not disappointed. This is probably my favourite Japanese restaurant so far. Everything was so chic from the decor to their employees uniform. Services were 10/10 and food were 11/10. They have a very interesting menu with lots of unique dishes. Every single dish we ordered tasted amazing. Honestly we would definitely come back to try their other dishes! 🤤”

“Honestly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. The food quality is seriously top notch everything tasted incredibly fresh and well prepared. You can tell a lot of care goes into each dish. The o-toro was the standout for me. It was by far the creamiest and richest sashimi on the table, with that melt-in-your-mouth texture. Definitely a must order. The service staff were also amazing — super friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They really made the whole experience feel special. I’ll definitely be coming back.”

“Love the food here! All the fish was fresh and tasty. The interior and service was very good. The carpaccio was delicious, it had a nice acidity to it and the pieces of fish were pretty big. Also really enjoyed the nigiris and agedashi tofu. I probably won’t get the beef oshizushi again, since it wasn’t my personal style but others might love it. The dessert was a great combination of crunch, creamy but still pretty light and fresh. Will definitely be back to try other menu items along with the ones I enjoyed this visit.”
