*YES WE ARE THE WINE AND CUPCAKE PLACE SAARLOOS & sons is a labor of love Four Generations in the making. We are so confident in our street cred that we serve cupcakes. Yes, Cupcakes that pair with our wines. You will find that on each release we are completely transparent about every aspect of our wines. Once a release is sold out it is gone forever. We have no interest in creating this year's version of last year's wine. We have planted every vine, we continue to farm it completely ourselves, we still pick every grape, and continue to make every wine by hand. We even do our own design. Every aspect of what we do is by a Saarloos. From our Plow to Your Porch. It is our hands. NOTE: Please indicate your total party size when booking. Kids and non-drinkers included! We are open 7 days a week from 11:00AM- 5:00PM with last pour at 4:30PM.
“Had an amazing morning/afternoon here. I started out on the vineyard tour, which was so complete and thorough that some of the questions I thought up ahead were answered and then I went and forgot some of the others lol. Overall, it was amazing and a beautiful spot to photograph snd learn in. I love this story behind the labels on the wine bottles and I fully support Keith using such a photo to put himself on a bottle 🙌 (*wink wink* the photo on the tiny tractor is gold! Or a full size size tractor if that's your vibe lol) If you're looking for a complex layers of wine for your superior wine brain to analyze this may not be your best thing. Were the wines good? Yes. Were they fancy and overcomplicated like some other vineyards I've been to? Absolutely not. That's what makes them great is that this is done from the heart and not out of a desire to build an empire. If you're here on a saturday, I 100% recommend the vineyard tour and I'm so stoked that I stayed the extra day to do it (I debated about going to go skiing lol, and let me tell you, there's no let down). They were fabulously personable and personal, without all the snobbery that comes from a lot of places that sell wine. That being said, if you're looking for a high-end estate experience, this isn't it. But it's high-end in the quality of people that you'll talk to, which is far more valuable. There's only one other group that I am a wine member with and this became my second. Just saying. And I personally feel that that says volumes given how much I travel. I've tasted wines in vineyards from Vinho Verde of the valleys in Portugal to Tuscany, Italy. Am I some type of sommelier? No, but I've had a lot of wines from a lot of places and heart is what matters. If you don't love what you do, no passion, no personalization, it shows. This place has the passion and the personability. Definitely recommend this place. I've said a lot and yet not enough, just visit it for yourself. Editing to add: the girl who was running the counter as that left for the day happened to be the same bartender I had over at a different bar the other night in Santa Ynez, and she remembered me. I knew the service would be awesome because she was awesome the other night as well! I'll definitely be back the next time of I'm in town!”
“Wonderful wines in a beautiful setting. This is a must when you’re visiting Los Olivos. Keith and his team are awesome. Always an enjoyable experience when we visit. GO FROGS!!!”
“I love this place, I've been coming here for years and they remain amazing! Their wine options are great, and of course their cupcake($12 for 6) and wine tasting ($20) option is fantastic. They have plenty of seating in the front or back patio, I usually make reservations to be on the safe side but they also accommodate walk-ins.”
“I stopped in Los Olivos on a Wednesday and Saarloos & Sons stood out quickly due to several tasting rooms near where I parked being closed, but i'm very glad I stopped in. There is a beautiful patio area, but the tasting room was so artfully decorated and had so much character that I stayed inside and did a tasting. They sell amazing candles and fun swag that was great to browse through. Kristin was at the tasting bar and I stayed about 3x longer than I intended to because taking with her was so much fun. I'm going to come back as soon as I can!”
“I will start with the positive… the ambiance and outdoor seating was great. Beautiful atmosphere and vibe. Beware… the cupcake pairing is simply that you get the same amount of cupcakes as you do for a flight of wine. The tasting constitutes of a girl pouring the wines and explaining the labels and not anything regarding the wine. Oh! Did I mention we didn’t get the cupcakes until we were well into our 4th wine because they ran out, or that no one except the cupcake girl (who I was told more than once is a separate business than the vineyard) was willing to explain the format or show any kind of customer service ? I should point out we didn’t care for any of the wines, which was a bummer because we drove up to stock up on cases before the summer. I’ll end with that the flight display was cute with little milk bottles and the cupcakes were ABSOLUTELY fabulous! Bottom line, it’s a cute place for a picture opportunity & cupcake, but you may want to purchase your wines elsewhere.”
