Saucelito Canyon Vineyard is the producer of one of California’s most distinguished Zinfandels, a wine made from historic dry-farmed old vines that remain a world apart in both place and character. Nestled into the rugged terrain of the upper Arroyo Grande Valley on California’s Central Coast, our vineyard features three acres of head-pruned Zinfandel vines planted in 1880 and painstakingly revived by owner Bill Greenough nearly 100 years later. Today, we remain dedicated to capturing the singular flavors native to Saucelito Canyon, and to advancing our heritage through sustainable viticulture and progressive winemaking. Our tasting room is located at 3080 Biddle Ranch Road in the heart of the adjacent Edna Valley appellation, five miles south of downtown San Luis Obispo. The tasting room is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Some places introduce themselves before you ever arrive—and Saucelito Canyon did exactly that. I came across them through a Lumina Alliance fundraising gala, where they donated a wine tasting experience with cheese and charcuterie. It wasn’t just generous—it was thoughtful. The kind of offering that tells you this is a place that understands hospitality at a deeper level. And then there was Sue—volunteering all evening in heels, effortlessly gracious, and wearing a necklace I’m still thinking about. If that’s the kind of energy connected to this place, I already know it’s something special. I haven’t even stepped onto the property yet, and I’m already looking forward to it—which says a lot.”
“Even though this isn’t the standard wine (Pinots) for this area of California, wanted to try it out anyways. The sommelier was very friendly and took the time to explain each different wine, background, and pairings to go with the wine. Ended up buying two bottles to take back. It was a five wine tasting if i remember correctly. It was $25s for the tasting which the price is waived if you buy some wine.”
“Excellent service and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, answering all of our wine questions. The tasting room is a nice quiet place next to a lot of vinyards where we could savor each glass under the cool breeze. Interesting lighter Zins if you are used to the jammy heavier flavors from Paso Robles, but certainly not lacking in fruity aroma. I could have them all day 💕”
