Named after the majestic Silverback gorilla, the heartbeat of our winery, we craft award-winning wines that celebrate boldness and the untamed spirit of nature. The winery was founded by Dick Olson, who has always harbored a deep love and admiration for these powerful creatures, inspired by their strength, wisdom, and the wild beauty they represent. (and just maybe he shares with them more than just the scientifically proven 98% of his DNA) This passion led to a unique vision: to produce exceptional wines while supporting gorilla conservation. Every bottle of Silverback wine carries not just the flavor of excellence, but also the spirit of giving. Through our Grapes for Apes program a portion of all bottle sales are dedicated to ape-centered foundations that are dedicated to preserving these magnificent animals in their natural habitats.

“This winery has an excellent set up with a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the view (especially at sunset). The wines are enjoyable and the meat and cheese plate was excellent. Staff were very friendly and very helpful on the tasting options. Only downside is for the tasting, we got a flight of wines at once. This felt more like being at a brewery than a winery, and losing out on getting the wine poured at intervals with an overview of the wine and how it was produced. Hopefully this is something that can be changed in the future to help appreciate the time and effort on making the wine.”
