“South City Kitchen Midtown is an absolute classic and a beloved staple of the Atlanta dining scene! Nestled in a charming historic bungalow, it serves up incredibly delicious, elevated Southern comfort food in a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. Their iconic buttermilk fried chicken and rich shrimp and grits are legendary and executed to absolute perfection. Combined with wonderful hospitality and a fantastic vibe, it is a consistently amazing spot that never fails to impress.”
“The food was really good not your typical southern selections but with big southern flavors. The trout was Seasoned beautifully. The Southern dips starter was pleasantly delicious. Great hot buttered cornbread and biscuits as well. The service was good also.”
“We had a lovely evening at South City Kitchen. The atmosphere was great, and while there were some hits and misses with the meal, the highlights definitely made it a worthwhile visit. The Food • The Hits: The shrimp and grits were outstanding—perfectly seasoned and creamy. We also started with the pork belly appetizer, which was a major win. For the main, the fried chicken served over potatoes was delicious and cooked to perfection. • The Misses: Unfortunately, the fried green tomatoes didn't hit the mark for us. They ended up remaining uneaten on the table as the flavor or texture just wasn't quite right compared to the other stellar dishes. The Service The staff members were very friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. However, we did notice that once the food was served, nobody came back to check that everything was okay. A quick mid-meal check-in would have been appreciated, especially since we weren't fans of one of the appetizers. Final Verdict Despite the small slip-ups, it was an overall good experience. The successful dishes were impressive enough that we would definitely go back to try more of the menu.”
“Great food and service. The She Crab was my favorite thing. The fried green tomatoes were good too. I didn’t get to try the steak and haha as I found a big hair on my plate which I returned and I was offered a new one, but I chose to simply get it taken off the bill and not get a new one. The complementary biscuit and corn bread basket were great.”
“May 2026 This establishment was near my hotel and I was drawn to the reviews. Good quiet location with welcoming ambience. I had a creamy crab soup and Nashville chicken bites. Soup is tasty but I expected to be temperature hot… especially on a cool evening. I requested the sauce on the side but the server forgot to ensure that. However, other than that, the service was attentive. Love my sweet tea and I love team work from another server refreshing my tea. Pay attention to solo guest, usually they come and visit the restaurant first before deciding to bring the rest of the parties. My rating 5 as very satisfied Taste 4/5 Temperature 4/5 Attentiveness 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Speed of service 5/5.”
