“We recently celebrated a large birthday gathering at Sovereign Winery, and it was absolutely fantastic! 🎉🍷 From the moment our group arrived, everything was top-notch. The service was excellent, our server was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was perfect for a special celebration. ✨ We especially loved the live music—it created such a fun and relaxing atmosphere throughout the afternoon. 🎶😊 The entire experience exceeded our expectations, and everyone in our party had a wonderful time. If you’re looking for a great place to celebrate, enjoy amazing service, and soak in a beautiful atmosphere, we highly recommend Sovereign Winery! We’ll definitely be back. 🥂💕”
“My wife and I were recently in town for an event and had some time to kill on a Saturday afternoon. A wide view on Google Maps revealed this winery, and with it having a lake view, we decided to give it a try. We took the scenic route along the north shore of Lake Waconia and saw dozens of ice fishing houses scattered about which is not something we see very often. The parking lot wasn't very full and we quickly found the wine tasting room. Timing is everything, because we got there right before the Valentine's Day dinner rush. Ben is the winemaker at the winery and guided us through many of their wines and what goes into the wine making process and why grape quality is important. The variety of grapes they use in their wines are hardy enough to survive harsh northern climates. One of the varieties was developed through the University of Minnesota. I could ramble on and on about the awesome experience we had, but the bottom line is that Ben made us feel welcome; every wine we tasted was good; and the wine/gift shop is spacious and clean. Would love to check it out during the warmer months but we live five hours away. Anyway, bottom line is fun experience and the wine is good. (Shout out to JP if you happen to see this. We appreciate your company!)”
“We love Minnesota wineries and Sovereign is the best of the best. The people, the grounds, the concerts and other special events, and most importantly, the delicious wine, all add up to a memorable experience that is not to be missed.”
“We were in town for a funeral. Found this place was having a BeeGees Tribute Show. What an absolutely terrific night. Bought a couple of tickets for the Open Patio area. Although we were not inside the tent, we had a nice view and the sound was very good. The entire grounds were well maintained. Took a stroll through the vineyards which are very picturesque. Got beverages and some food items before the show, Popcorn and Cheese/Meat box. Plenty of space to enjoy the concert. There several bars had good service, and the bathrooms nearby. My main suggestion. Upgrade the Cheese/Meat Box to a real charcuterie option. Crackers, cheese spread, nuts etc, would have been a better choice.”
“Sovereign Estate Winery has beautiful grounds and an impressive drive up to the property. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our visit. Because it was raining, we spent our time indoors, and the interior felt surprisingly disjointed. We weren’t greeted when we arrived, the live music in the dining room was so loud it was hard to have a conversation, and the quieter barrel room felt more like a windowless metal building than a cozy winery space. The wine flight was fine, but nothing stood out. The flatbreads were disappointing—lukewarm, with what tasted like a frozen crust. The Margherita flatbread was mostly cheese with a few tomato slices and large dollops of pesto, while the sausage on the build-your-own tasted more like breakfast sausage than Italian sausage. Our server was pleasant and attentive enough, but the overall experience felt unpolished. Cell service was nearly nonexistent, and when we asked about guest Wi-Fi, no one seemed to know the information and we were told it wasn’t working. The bathrooms were also showing quite a bit of wear. What really stood out was the price. For the quality of the food, wine, atmosphere, and service, it felt significantly overpriced. Sovereign Estate has a beautiful property, but based on our experience, the value simply wasn’t there.”
