“Amazing from start to finish. The property is a slice of heaven on Earth! Phenomenal food, absolutely enjoyed the chicken tortilla soup and wild grain bowl with chicken. My server recommended a great glass of bubbly rosé and I got creme brûlée for my birthday dessert! At the end, I ordered a blood orange margarita to walk around the property, enjoy the lush gardens, ocean views, charming buildings, and take plenty of photos! Must go here for the best of Santa Barbara’s beauty and service!”
“We visited The Stonehouse on May 11th to celebrate a birthday and it was an absolutely unforgettable evening. The patio setting is stunning — lush gardens, warm ambient lighting, and that unmistakable San Ysidro Ranch charm that makes every moment feel special. Our server Richard was the highlight of the night — attentive, warm, and genuinely made us feel like the only table in the restaurant. The kitchen even surprised us with a beautifully plated birthday dessert, complete with a candle and “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate — a thoughtful touch that made the celebration feel truly personal. The food and wine were exceptional, rooted in the fresh, hyper-local California cuisine the Stonehouse is known for. If you’re looking for the perfect place to celebrate someone special in Santa Barbara, look no further.”
“The Stone House gave us one of the most memorable experiences of our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived, every detail felt intentional, warm, and incredibly special. The property itself is breathtaking — elegant without feeling pretentious, beautifully designed, and filled with the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and savor every second. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated, creating an experience that is just as aesthetically beautiful as it is welcoming. What truly made our visit unforgettable, though, was the staff. Every single person we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated and cared for. Our sommelier, David, was phenomenal. I am very particular about wine. I gave him a vague description of what we were in the mood for, and he brought back a bottle of Pinot that couldn’t have been more perfect. Leon, our server, was equally incredible. As someone who cooks a lot and has a lot of experience with food, I found it so refreshing to have a server who takes what they do as seriously as he does. I kept asking questions about the menu items including components of the recipe, and he was so knowledgeable about everything. He didn’t even have to think about it. Jeorge and Phillip, assisting with food service, added so much to the experience with their attentiveness and care. It was clear that every member of the team took pride in creating something special for guests, and their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. And finally, Bogdon, the food and beverage service manager, helped orchestrate an experience that felt seamless from beginning to end. You can absolutely feel the culture of hospitality throughout the restaurant, and that starts with leadership. The Stone House was more than just a beautiful meal — it became one of the standout memories of our honeymoon. We left feeling genuinely grateful for the experience and already dreaming about returning someday.”
“San Ysidro Ranch is undeniably one of the most beautiful dining venues I’ve experienced. The setting is breathtaking, and the service is truly exceptional. The staff delivers a level of attentiveness and polish that’s rare, and they made the entire evening feel elevated and seamless. However, the biggest gap here is the food quality. Given the reputation, pricing, and overall experience, the dishes simply did not meet expectations. We ordered the steak frites, crispy chicken sandwich, and a smoked mezcal margarita and all of them were surprisingly average, lacking depth, refinement, and that “wow” factor you would expect from a destination like this. Nothing stood out in terms of flavor or execution, and it felt more like standard dining rather than anything close to fine dining. The one exception was the banana foster, made tableside , that was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. Overall, I would absolutely come back for the views, ambiance, and top-tier service. But if you’re going primarily for the food, it’s important to set expectations… This is not a Michelin-level culinary experience.”
“Amazing ambiance, one of the most beautiful properties I've ever seen. The speakeasy next door is also really cool. I'd love to stay at the property one day. Service everywhere was incredible, except.... our server made a number of minor mistakes (brought the wrong soup, brought the wrong water, and forgot 2 of our apps and had to re order) so that's why I brought service down to 3 stars, and the price is very expensive even for Montecito so you can't say there's value lol but it's totally worth the luxury experience and we probably just experienced one off mistakes.”
