“We went specifically to try the Saturday night Chef’s Tasting Menu and it didn’t disappoint. The lamb and dessert were out of this world! The appetizer was not our favorite but that may just have been due to our taste preferences. We’ll be back!”
“Table 128 has a wonderful Chef’s tasting menu every Saturday night. It’s creative, delicious, and never the same. For example, last night the beef tenderloin tartare was truly special. So succulent! The platter of grilled trout, which is seldom on local menus, was a beautiful specimen grilled to perfection. And the cheesecake was luscious, smooth and creamy with big beautiful raspberries and a thin chocolate topping. So so delicious! The servers at Table 128 are experienced, friendly and efficient. It’s apparent that they enjoy their job and want to ensure that we have a memorable evening.”
“I now have a new favorite restaurant in Des Moines to add to my small list!😍 I had a cup of the soup of the day which was chicken and oyster mushroom soup. Very complex flavors and seasoned to perfection… I could've eaten seven more bowls of that! 🫢 The wedge salad was delicious and the half size was generous! Husband had the burger and fries which he loved, and the meal was nicely ended with two tiny little chocolate chip cookies which he said were fabulous! Can't wait to return 🥰”
“Disappointing. I thought by the website (fancy pics), location, online menu, ease of making an online reservation, and price point, this place looked like it was going to be a slam dunk. Sadly, that was not the case. There isn’t much of a selection and the lobster pasta on the menu was not available so that took away another dish. If you get a water there is no ice, if you want a straw you get a glass straw. The total time from ordering the food for 7 people (2 beef tenderloins, 1 salmon, 1 salad and 3 burgers and fries) it took an hour and 15 minutes to receive. Other people came after us, ordered, ate their meals and left before we received our food. Every meal was cold!!!! The fries were hard and it sounded like we were eating rocks. After we finished eating the waitress tried to sell us on dessert a little too much - we were not interested but she brought over someone else’s dish to show us what it looked like and proceeded to bring menus. Later she came to tell us part of one of the ingredients for the desserts was out but it would still be good if we wanted it. The price for the desserts were not listed on the menu. After we declined for the 4th time she brought over one mini salted chocolate chip cookie complimentary for each person (size of a quarter)- it would have been amazing if they were warm but they were not. This was our first and last time coming here. The bathroom was semi clean, looked like black mold in the sink of the females bathroom. The parking was open so that’s something. The only thing that this place had going for it was that the noise level was low. The table we sat at had a L shaped cushion bench that had an over abundance of pillows. I had to put some on the floor so there was a place for everyone to sit. 3 (2 person) tables were pushed together which we had to adjust because it wasn’t close enough to the bench and didn’t allow for enough leg room- the people in the chairs and the bench -knees and feet were touching the entire time. Also, do those pillows ever get cleaned? At one point I saw a chef in a chefs jacket talking to someone at the bar for at least 5 minutes- I don’t know what that was about but it does make me wonder if another party had a similar situation/experience. The beef tenderloin was not worth 47 dollars and the burgers and fries were not worth 18 dollars. Total time at the restaurant was 2 hours. (5pm reservation on a Saturday)”
“The food was wayyy over cooked the fries you couldn’t even bite into. The bacon burger was decent but the bun was burnt. The other burger was NOT cooked the way we wanted either. We waited for 1 hour and 15 min for food but the service was good.”
