The Driskill is an opulent 1886 hotel in downtown Austin featuring a renowned grill restaurant and a bar with live music. Guests praise its historic ambiance, central location, and attentive service, along with a well-regarded bakery.
“It's beautiful inside, you get 2 waters free a Day & Beer on arrival 👍🏼. Disappointed not to get the Historical Tour due to construction. We stayed on the 12 floors & were supposed to have a city view , we did not . Not a big deal cause the room was pretty & it was just one night. The restaurant was good & we were in a hurry so we share the Burger which was Delicious! Austin was our waiter , he was attentive, nice , easy to chat with & beautiful Hair. You must try the bakery, either for a meal or just a treat . It's delicious”
“The Driskill was such an amazing stay! I did not realize its historic ambiance but it was truly breathtaking. I enjoyed how close to downtown and all its attractions. It was either within walking distance or a short drive. We brought our 2 dogs and were delivered a dog bed for our pouches that arrived within 20 minutes of checking in. The valet parking was very convenient and was very speedy with getting our vehicle. I would definitely stay here again and actually planning another trip to the Driskill! Guiliana was at the front desk during most of our stay and she was always so helpful and kind!”
“4.3 stars. This has been one of those hotels I’ve wanted to check out for years but could never get myself to pull the trigger whether b/c of the price or number of points needed. Well, finally I booked it and we experienced the Driskill at last. The valet team especially Anthony is superb. From the moment we pulled up, they were prompt and professional. They opened the doors for us when we came and went during the overnight stay. Anthony specifically remembered us and made us feel welcomed greeting us by our last names. The front desk team was pretty good. Responsive and informative, the young lady that checked us in provided us with a comprehensive explanation of all the perks and amenities being a Globalist. She upgraded us to a City View room and gave us two cold Shiner Bocks which was a wonderful surprise. The room (811) was in the newer tower and located at the very end of the hall. There were two lemon curd tarts and a recipe card waiting for us in the room which was a nice touch. The room was comfortable and well designed with standard amenities. The in-room bar had lots of tempting options but we passed. Bathroom amenities were standard while the body wash, shampoo and conditioner were quite fragrant and luxurious. The slight downgrade on the room was due to inconsistent water temperature as during one shower, the hot water was only able to get to lukewarm temperature. The location was perfect. We’d step out the hotel and be right on 6th Street. There are tons to see, do, experience as well. Added perk of complimentary breakfast for Globalists in the morning was appreciated as it included one entree and one coffee or one juice. Server Fernando did a good job taking care of us. All-in, our first experience here was a good one. If you are a fan of history and old world opulence, the Driskill is one to check out. If modern and sleek are more appealing to you, you’ll want to check out Hyatt’s other upscale property Thompson Austin.”
“We booked this hotel for a family vacation last week. The location is great. The hotel itself for an Unbound Collection was very disappointing. Most of the hotel was under construction which provided limited access. The rooms are TINY and the bathrooms even smaller. Not even a sink area big enough to do your hair and makeup. Even though we were on floor 11, there is absolutely NO view from this hotel, so dont expect one. The best part of this hotel is a very nice bar, but even the bar is not very well stocked. For the money these rooms cost, I will stay somewhere else in the neighborhood next time in Austin.”
“My husband and I booked a specific room for our wedding night that had a bath tub included with the room, the hotel website only has photos for this room with the tub included. I am a very big tub user, and I have had previous food surgery and all day I was looking forward to being able to use the giant tub I booked. I have wanted to stay at this particular hotel since as long as I could remember. The room itself was beautiful it was just very disappointing to know we spent almost a thousand dollars to travel on our wedding night, and to not have the only thing we booked the room there. I would not recommend staying here as they are under construction and that is the only apology they are offering for not having what is advertised.”
