Seasonal Local American Cuisine. We use many local products from local farmers. We are located about a mile west of the University of Virginia campus. Historic old home turned into a restaurant. Three small intimate dining rooms upstairs, one on the ground floor and a large weather protected patio. In the winter the Patio is heated. Family owned since 1995. Special diet needs met upon request.
“Celebrated our fifth anniversary at the Ivy Inn and they made it so special. The food was amazing, the service was great and the outdoor patio was enjoyable.”
“Historic Inn been here in one fashion or another since 1700s. No specials as menus change frequently. Gourmet selections, nice wine list. No surcharge on cc payment. Free parking. Upstairs and downstairs dining room but no elevators so if that is an issue, request table on first floor. Small bar. Romantic, particularly upstairs. Good selection of gourmet entrees. I had the Aspragus soup which was a small portion but only 7 bucks and nicely garnished. Also the strawberry salad which was not great but above average. I then had their signature Duet dish of lamb chops and shepperds pie and we also had the grilled pork tenderloin which had a greek lean to it. Both were well flavored and very nicely served in colorful dishes. We then had the home made ice cream, all 3 flavors, served with a fudge sauce which was also good. You get bread and a small canape as well before your meal. The choices of wine by the glass is rather limited to one type of red, white, etc. Service was very efficient and friendly. Dinner for two was $180 total including one glass of wine and one hard cider. Not cheap but not bad. I would recommend it and would go back.”
“I would rate my overall experience as 4.6. So gave it 5 starts since it rounded that way. Came here as a surprise for my birthday in February. Loved that I started with a birthday menu. The food was very good and was delighted. Lots of great flavors and textures. Thoughtful and unique ingredient combos. The yellowfin tuna sushi appetizer stood out. Loved the flavors that popped and looked beautiful. Glad they mentioned the daily fresh made pasta. It was hard to choose but squash ravioli was on my mind…presentation was meh but flavors lovely. My short rib was great and my recollection was the side was just ok. My partner had the fish and the sauce made it great. Desserts were definitely standouts with an innovative happy Bday key lime pie with a meringue top and great crème brûlée. It’s a cute quaint place. My one beef that makes my rating lower is the atmosphere since we got seated in the enclosed outdoor patio. It was a nice touch that they placed a panel next to our table for privacy but the decor doesn’t match the food quality. It’s probably lovely in warm weather to be open air but would love to see a designer transform that space. It’s one thing I noticed newly to Cville from DC is the decor and atmosphere sometimes leaves me underwhelmed if you want to have the overall 5+ experience. But I would come back to delight my tastebuds.”
“Cozy little spot for a nice meal. The options were good for our adult party but definitely limited selection for younger children. Cocktails were great and service was top knotch.”
“Celebrated our 5th anniversary at The Ivy Inn and had a lovely evening overall. The setting is charming and intimate. The Rockefeller was good, though I’ve had better. The standout was the Grilled Certified Angus Beef Tenderloin — incredibly tender, well-seasoned, with a nice cabernet sauce and a creamy green side that worked well as a palate cleanser. The Grilled Rockfish Fillet could have been great, but the NOLA BBQ shrimp topping was disappointing. The shrimp seemed overcooked and had a refrigerated taste, which took away from the dish. The staff were great — attentive, professional, and welcoming. One small note: they didn’t offer to take photos, which would’ve been a nice touch for an anniversary dinner. Finished with the Crème Brûlée, which was excellent and a must-order. Overall, a memorable celebration with a few areas that could be refined.”
