“We visited The North House for our anniversary, and it was truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. Our waiter was incredibly kind, professional, and very considerate throughout the entire evening. They even surprised us with a chef’s choice dish, which made the experience feel even more special and memorable. The food was excellent overall, but you absolutely must try the pork chop — it was incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. The wine pairing was also enjoyable and complemented the meal nicely. What really made the night stand out was the service. Our waiter went above and beyond — at one point, another customer even ran back to give an extra tip, which says a lot about the level of service here. Yes, it is a bit on the pricier side, but if you’re looking for a special night out with your significant other, it is 100% worth it. I highly recommend The North House for anyone wanting a memorable and high-quality dining experience.”

“Went on a Sunday for brunch with some friends and enjoyed the experience so well I booked a reservation for that following Friday for a birthday celebration. Both times the staff were amazing and personal! The food was delicious and the speed of service was fantastic! We received a free sampling and a complimentary dessert during the birthday dinner. When one of us spotted The North House on Facebook, we decided it was time for a group outing. Only later did we realize this gem is located in the beautifully restored former Avon Old Farms Inn—an immediate sign we were in for something special. Tonight, our group of ten—five couples—gathered for dinner, with guests traveling from Mystic, Rhode Island, Colchester, and Tolland/Storrs. The moment we walked in, we knew the trip was worth it. The North House blends modern American cuisine with historic charm, creating an atmosphere that feels both elevated and warmly inviting. 🍽️ Exceptional Food From Start to Finish We indulged in everything: appetizers, entrées, mocktails, desserts, and coffee. Every dish was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. One of our friends, Mark—who has dined at Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen—declared that The North House’s Beef Wellington beats Ramsay’s. That alone speaks volumes. 🌟 Service That Sets a New Standard What truly elevated the evening was the service. - Brian, the manager, is in a league of his own. Gracious, attentive, and genuinely appreciative of our visit, he made us feel like honored guests. His professionalism and warmth are rare and unforgettable. - Maria, our server, was equally outstanding—knowledgeable, attentive, and effortlessly personable. It is refreshing to encounter a team so clearly committed to excellence. 🏆 A Restaurant That Exceeds Expectations Our group dines out often and across many cuisines, and we all agreed: The North House stands out. “Clearly I’ve been missing out. I drive by The North House daily to and from work over Avon Mountain. To think this gem has been here all this time and I’m only now discovering it! It snowed today and it felt like the perfect opportunity for a warm tavern lunch. The North House didn’t disappoint. Vera provided excellent care from water to the check - positive demeanor, good humor, attentive, great eye contact and presented like she truly enjoyed being there, so we totally matched her vibe. Our son believes that any restaurant with Tavern in the name MUST have great wings 😝 and he was not disappointed. The weather inspired me to have the French Onion Soup and it was delicious! Crab cakes, Caesar salad, Steak Frites - every dish was fantastic. We splurged and had dessert too - a giant slice of chocolate cake and the deep dish cookie (which our son smelled on the way to another table and he couldn’t get over how awesome it smelled, so he immediately set his sights on that). When we mentioned we’d seen a foodie review on IG, Adam came over to chat with us because does their social media accounts. Really, really great staff who clearly care about what they do and making the experience wonderful for their guests. We’ll be back!”

“I do not understand why this restaurant only has a 4.4 rating when it deserves much more than 5 stars. The atmosphere, calm and relaxing, the service amazing!! Matthew was very pleasant and professional, most importantly attentive. The food, OMG, DELICIOUS!!!! I highly recommend it.”
