“I had a great experience here, the host and waiter was very nice and attentive. I dined alone, my food was fresh. I had an appetizer, entrée, a drink and dessert. I was very pleased with the presentation of each item. I was seated in the lounge area in middle of the room where I had a view of the waterfall as well as the fireplace, it’s a dimly lit, can come off as romantic or a social space depending on the vibe you’re looking for. There’s a bar in the corner and lounge chairs near the fire place to socialize. I would highly recommend this restaurant.”

“The Roundhouse is a very clean, peaceful, and relaxing place to stay in Beacon. The location is perfect — right in the heart of the town and within walking distance of restaurants, cafés, breweries, and local shops. One of the highlights is the small creek behind the hotel, where you can sit, unwind, and enjoy the soothing sound of the waterfall. The free Loop Bus stop is conveniently located right outside the hotel, making it easy to travel to the train station and nearby attractions at no cost. Popular spots like Mount Beacon and Long Dock Park sunset point are also close by, making this hotel an excellent base for exploring Beacon. A helpful tip for visitors: many cafés and restaurants in Beacon are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so plan accordingly. The hotel provides a light breakfast with bagels and muffins, but if you prefer a hot breakfast, there are some great nearby cafés to try. Overall, The Roundhouse is an ideal stay if you want comfort, convenience, and easy access to everything Beacon has to offer.”

“We stopped here for dinner and drinks because of the view, and we had a lovely time. My friend and I started with the Potato Croquettes appetizer, which had a nice spicy kick and was delicious. My only complaint is that I wish it came with more than four croquettes! I ordered the Pan-Seared Faroe Island Salmon, which was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. I wasn't a huge fan of the quinoa crust on top because it was a bit crunchier than I prefer, but that's purely a personal preference. The views were fantastic, and sitting outside in the evening made for a great dining experience. The view of the waterfall from inside the restaurant is even better (make a reservation for inside!). The drinks were excellent as well. I especially loved the peach rum white sangria. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I'd happily return!”

“We’ve come to Beacon a number of times and decided to do an evening out at the round house. The inside is absolutely beautiful. We were seated right by the window and it has a lovely view. Generally speaking, the ambience is really nice. All of the staff was very nice and attentive. We did have a newer server who seemed a little bit nervous and less familiar with the menu than you might want, but she was very nice and we have no complaints about the actual service. We split a half bottle of wine, which was a nice option since we didn’t want a full bottle. We started with the French baguette, the brussels sprouts, and the whipped ricotta. The brussels sprouts were delicious. They were perfectly cooked and I couldn’t stop going back to them. The whipped ricotta was also really interesting and the flavors were amazing. What was really disappointing was the baguette. When I think baguette, I think crusty, hot, out of the oven. The texture of the baguette was weird because it almost had more of a pretzel like exterior that was chewy and not crispy. For mains, we had the crispy chicken sandwich and the cassoulet. The sandwich was kind of a letdown. The flavors were all nice, but there was no textural difference. The bun was a little too big for the sandwich, the avocado, and the other toppings, just all kind of mushed into each other. It was perfectly enjoyable, but just nothing to write home about. The cassoulet was very good. There was a nice depth of flavor and smokiness to the meat. Overall, no complaints. It did seem as though our mains probably sat under a heat lamp. My guess is that because we were still working on the appetizers they did not want us to feel rushed, but with this kind of meal and the price point, they should do a better job pacing, or they should just bring the food out when it comes out. I would rather have the fresh hot food out of the kitchen, than have it sitting under a heat lamp. Overall, the meal was lovely. Given the price point and the feel of the round house, the few missteps hit a little bit harder. But we would absolutely come back again.”

“Where do I even begin? For the price we paid, we certainly expected a nicer hotel and better service. I heard mixed reviews on the restaurant, so we did not eat there, but we did have cocktails in the Lounge. The cocktails were great…service was meh. The room: So many things about the room were odd and it was clearly not designed with travelers in mind but rather what would look cool. For starters, the shower situation. Luckily, I stayed in the room with my husband, as we did not know that our king deluxe room had a shower with a glass wall that looked into the main bedroom. Fine if you’re going to include smoked glass, but that was not the situation - it was basically just a glass wall that gave zero privacy into the bathroom and shower. The shower head was too low for my 6’ husband to stand comfortably under the shower and there wasn’t a single towel hook within reach from the shower. Because the shower was open on one side, it was impossible for steam to gather and so our showers were chilly and the provided soaps were out of reach when you were under the water. Plus, the handle on the shower knob was faulty. Inside the bathroom, there was poor lighting and they forgot to consider a soap dish for the bar soap offered. The one and only towel hook was closer to the toilet, so you had to get completely out of the shower and walk around the wall to grab a towel. The hotel boasts a fancy makeup mirror, though ours was broken and the hot water tap leaked when the water was on (which made the countertop wet). When we walked in, there was a small “closet” …but the two robes (one of which had a broken belt hoop) took up the only hanging space. There was no way we could have hung up our winter coats in the closet unless we removed the luggage rack, robes, and ironing board. The room had water damage and rips in the ceiling and we heard noises from the floor above us all throughout the night. The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were all exactly the same and kept getting stuck in the large space between the frame and mattress. It was impossible to prop yourself up against the headboard comfortably because of the pillow/bed frame situation. The bedside tables were super small. On the side of the bed that had a light switch and dimmer, there was an alarm clock/phone charger and phone - which meant that there was not much more room to place our own items. This side of the bed had outlets for our phone chargers, but the other side didn’t have a single outlet. The bedside lamps were all on one switch, which included a dimmer, but the dimmer made a buzzing sound and made the lights flicker, so they had to be turned up all the way. As for service - I suppose I could ask, “what service?” We had zero contact with staff and didn’t see anyone outside of check-in and check-out. Our mini-fridge was not re-stocked when our room was tended, which meant that we had no cream cheese for the bagels that arrived on our door handle each morning. When we made our way from the front desk to the Roundhouse building, we walked in and asked the restaurant host which way to go - he simply gave us the stink eye and pointed in the direction of the elevator - not exactly a warm welcome. Photos included. Ughh - we will be finding better accommodations next time we are in Beacon, which as a lovely town with great food and shopping.”
