“If you have not been to The Speckled Pear, you absolutely need to give this place a try! Every dish was culinary deliciousness from start to finish, made with fresh local ingredients and plated in perfectly appropriate portions. The food was incredibly flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and truly memorable. Beyond the amazing food, the table service was wonderful — attentive, welcoming, and added so much to the overall experience. I couldn’t have been happier with my visit and will definitely be back. Highly recommend!”
“I normally do not write reviews, with that said this place is outstanding! Everything from start to finish was just wonderful! We visited on Valentine’s Day, the moment we walked in we felt special. Sat down and was met with champagne. It was a tasting menu where you can pick this or that. The bread service was amazing, local sourdough and that house made butter was superb. I enjoyed the presentation of the crudite, very fun and playful. Hands down my favorite was the crudo! Beautiful to look at and oh my, the flavors and textures were so thought out. I seriously had no complaints the whole night. Also to add the staff is so friendly and their wine selection is top notch! This is a husband and wife run restaurant and I enjoyed seeing them out on the floor touching tables and just being so happy to be there. I will definitely be back!!”
“Where do I even begin?!?! I have had the Speckled Pear on my list for a year now (I live in Virginia) and I FINALLY got a chance to give it a try. First impression: 1000% worth traveling over state lines for. I will be back!! I got the privilege of attending Saturday brunch and Saturday dinner. Both experiences had their differences and similarities and have me counting down the days until I go back. Brunch: If you are looking for a spot to catch-up with a friend and enjoy a mimosa and the most divine French toast...this is the place to go! Because The Pear has been on my visit list for so long, I got a little bit of everything. My top food item was the avocado toast; the crust was toasted just right and it all melted in my mouth. My second favorite was the French toast - the fresh caramel on top was the perfect touch. There were no wrong choices for brunch on this day. Dinner: The cozy environment of the morning switched over so flawlessly. There is definitely a lot more people in the building at night, but it was still such a relaxing dining experience. To start we got a bread board and glasses of wine. I wasn't sure what I wanted but had an idea that I shared with the sommelier and he helped pick the perfect glass of wine to start my evening. Having a staff that was knowledgeable on the items was so helpful in making our decisions for dinner. For my main dish I got the short rib, and it was gone before I knew it. Every bite melted in my mouth, and I have been thinking about it ever since. Now...dessert. WOW! We got the salted caramel budino and blackberry cobbler with lavender ice cream. Both were the perfect combinations of savory and sweet to finish off the beautiful meal we had. Now for my favorite part of my visit(s): The owners came out while we were eating and when we finished to check on how our service was and introduce themselves/say hello again. I LOVE that they do this. It added such a personal touch to this Family-Owned dining experience both in the morning at brunch and in the evening at dinner. The Speckled Pear was so lovely, and I appreciate all the dedication these owners have poured into their craft. I look forward to returning in the future. I've added pictures of both the brunch and dinner we had!”
“The Speckled Pear is hands-down one of the best dining experiences in the area and easily my favorite restaurant. Every visit feels special, and the consistency is unmatched. Most recently, we attended their Battle of the Somms dinner, and it was incredible—thoughtfully curated wines, two tastings per course, and pairings that elevated every dish. The food was exceptional, from a luxurious egg yolk ravioli with truffles (so good I forgot to film it!) to a perfectly balanced soufflé served with ice cream topped with raspberry sauce, thyme, and a hint of sea salt. Truly divine. Whether it’s their regular menu or one of their special events, the creativity, execution, and hospitality at The Speckled Pear are always top-tier. If you're looking for a memorable meal with outstanding service and inspired flavors, this is the place.”
“This is a hard review to write because we really enjoyed the service and had high hopes. Ultimately we were really disappointed and would not recommend the speckled pear for its price point. It’s a really nice date night atmosphere for Fort Mill but the food was not good. You can see the details from each dish below. Another issue we had was that many of our dishes were not warm (bordering on cold). The atmosphere and service were able to pull this out of the 2 rating by a hair. Bone Marrow: 1/5 - we have recently been on a bone marrow kick and this did not meet the bar. Highly priced too. Fondue: 4/5 - this was pretty good. The table enjoyed it. TSP Onion Soup: 2/5 - cold and somewhat bland in flavor. Would not recommend. Fall Vegetable Bisque: 4/5 - the table really enjoyed this but it was also a little cold which was disappointing. White Truffle Pasta: 3/5 - not bad but not that impressed (especially given it was a special) Butter Basted Sea Scallops: 3/5 - the scallops themselves were good but the Brussels were undercooked. Lemon Custard (was a special): 5/5 - best thing we had all night. No issues. Delicious.”
