“Great food, pleasant atmosphere, well-prepared drinks, and a great place if you love cheese as much as I do. They know what the items on their menu are and give great advice, even down-selling me to a cheaper drink choice because they thought I'd enjoy it better than my first choice. Which I did. I'm going to be waking up from dreams about their halloumi and wishing I could go back to sleep and keep eating it!”
“Very lovely boat with great seating both indoors and outdoors. We were greeted quickly and they were really good with the timing of orders. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing. Our small plates came out gradually, and the cheeseboard came out last. There was nice spacing between each meal. Would highly recommend coming here, whether its just for a light lunch or dinner!”
“Had a relaxing afternoon at The Cheese Barge. The setting is lovely, and it’s in a great location close to a variety of shops selling everything from stationery to clothing, which makes it easy to turn the visit into a nice day out. The food was good. One piece of advice — listen to your server! We only ordered a few cheeses and definitely should have got more 😄. Would also recommend booking ahead as it can get quite busy, especially during peak times.”
“Dropped in for a light dinner. Online booking said no tables an available but took a chance and there was. Nice menu with a mix of starters, cheese tastings and sandwiches. Staff were friendly and pace was relaxed. Would recommend the curried cheese curds. So tasty with the hot honey. Cheese samples are small pieces and they recommend a few. Fun being on the canal. You can feel the sway off the barge. Not so much if you are dining inside. Heard other customers saying it was noticeable on the terrace. Worth a visit.”
“We were gifted a cheese afternoon tea by a friend and it was a delightful experience. Food was delicious, location was unique and staff were very friendly. As part of the experience we got, two glasses of prosecco, a curried cheese curds (which was the standout dish for us), 2 cheese toasties (we loved the bacon mozzarella one) and a cheese board of 6 cheeses. The cheeses were great, we do wish were given more crackers with the board and the 6 in the pot didn't quite feel enough for the amount of cheese on the board, but we were unsure about asking for more (if they were unlimited it would have been great for staff to maybe offer/ask customers if they'd like crackers refilled when they notice pots are empty, just so customers are aware). But overall the accompaniments were fun and the range of cheeses available were also good. We would definitely go back to try other dishes.”
