“Stopped by Barrie for a night and randomly found this breakfast spot the next morning — honestly one of those “why is this place not permanently attached to my house” experiences. The Fried Chicken Benny was dangerously close to perfection. The fried chicken was juicy enough to make other fried chickens question their life choices, and even the home fries were so good I kept eating them long after I was already full. No self-control. No regrets. The mussels were also a surprise hit. Eating them alone, the garlic flavour comes in like it owns the place. But once you dip them into the sauce? Massive upgrade. To me it tasted a bit like a Thai-style sauce — maybe there’s a heroic amount of lemon juice in there. I could be completely wrong scientifically, but emotionally, it was correct. Service was super friendly too. It was ridiculously hot that day, and the moment I sat down they brought me ice water like they had sensed my suffering from across the parking lot. They even helped turn my coffee into an iced coffee situation, which deserves respect. Even the restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and impossible to complain about.”

“If you’re looking for a cozy restaurant in Barrie with great food, fair prices, and a relaxed atmosphere, The Farmhouse Restaurant is absolutely worth checking out. We stopped in for a casual early dinner and were really impressed with both the food and overall experience. I ordered the beef dip with fresh cut fries and a romaine salad — the beef was tender and flavorful, and the au jus was rich without being too heavy. The fries were clearly fresh-cut (crispy outside, soft inside), and everything tasted fresh. My partner had the chicken avocado club with smashed potatoes and a romaine salad — great portion size, fresh ingredients, and the smashed potatoes were a standout. The service was excellent — a young gentleman took care of us and was friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel easy and welcoming. One of the best parts about this place is the atmosphere — no loud music or distracting TVs, just a warm, cozy space where you can actually enjoy your meal and conversation. Perfect for a date night or relaxed dinner in Barrie. “I am definitely coming back here! Jessica was our server, and was phenomenal, super cheerful and friendly, checked on us frequently, really amazing! We started with the Jalapeño Corn Fritters, probably one of the greatest appetizers I’ve ever had. It came with 8 crispy corn fritters each with a jalapeño on top, and a delicious buffalo aioli. It was amazing, great portions, great food!! 5/5 For our entree I got the Chicken Avocado Sandwich, which was amazing, the chicken was juicy, bacon was perfectly cooked for a sandwich - not too crispy and not too soft, the sauce it came with was amazing and the avocado was perfect! 4.5/5 definitely getting it again - so so good. Then my sides were the farm fries and feta salad, both delicious. The fries were incredible - highly recommend, some of the best fries I’ve had! Salad was also really good. My wife got the Beef Dip, which was really good too. Shredded beef on a bun with horseradish aioli and crispy onions, very good 4/5. Her sides were mac & cheese and rosemary potatoes. I wouldn’t recommend the potatoes, they’re pretty average 1.5/5, you could probably make better ones at home. The mac & cheese however was amazing, made with real cheese and with a homemade quality! 4/5 We didn’t have room for dessert but next time I’m there I’ll try some and leave another review. I highly recommend for a cute date night or a family dinner out! I can’t wait to try the patio in the summer!”

“Pretty disappointing experience here for dinner. Didn’t realize Localicious was on so we had what their offer was. 1 starter 1 entree 1 side and 1 dessert for $45 - paid extra for steaks for the entrees. Hopefully we didn’t get what you would normally pay $56 for because it was totally underwhelming and basically tasteless. Presentation was also really disappointing. Piece of meat and a potato slapped on a plate. Dessert was laughable - 2 bites of a chocolate torte. If it’s too expensive to give a decent sized portion add an up charge. Service was mediocre at best, slow and not much attention paid . Should have had a check in very soon after our steaks were delivered to make sure they were cooked properly but nope. Just a very expensive lesson - not returning nor will I recommend to anyone.”
