The Salt House is located in the heart of beautiful New Hope, Pennsylvania and offers seasonal dishes using local ingredients. It is perhaps best described as “creative and elevated pub fare served in a 1751 stone building that feels straight out of a fairytale”. Lunch, dinner and late-night supper are available by the roaring fire in the tavern, in the upstairs library lounge or alfresco on the brick patio. Owner and Executive Chef Steven Lau settled in scenic Bucks County after a career traveling the globe as a recording artist and a senior executive at Warner Brothers. He later attended the Culinary Institute of America and founded an award-winning winery in the Napa Valley.
“The Salt House in New Hope has absolutely earned a place on my must-visit list, and I'll be back as soon as possible! Let me start with the hamburger — hands down the best burger I have ever had in my life. It was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, juicy and flavorful in every single bite. The kind of burger you find yourself thinking about days later. The tuna tartare was equally impressive — fresh, beautifully presented, and full of bright flavor. On the drinks side, the Cape May IPA on tap was ice cold and the perfect pairing for the meal. But what really sets The Salt House apart is the people. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome — warm, attentive, and full of good energy. Our bartender was an absolute standout — knowledgeable, personable, and made the whole experience feel special. If you're in New Hope and looking for great food, great drinks, and an even better vibe, The Salt House is the place. Don't sleep on that burger! 🍔”
“Our server rich was absolutely top-notch notch. Very personable, welcoming and was very helpful in guiding us through the menu. We wanted to try everything but we settled on the duck meatballs in molasses, the bacon wrapped dates, seafood linguine and scallops in polenta. I have nothing but good things to say about all of the dishes. The cocktails were also delicious. Of what we tried, they were refreshing and well-balanced: Freudian slip, Esther's footsteps, yule mule, a million tiny little things, coco me loco and ferrys landing. Definitely will aim to return”
“This was our first time dining at The Salt House while visiting New Hope and it was a very enjoyable evening. Interesting historic building with eclectic decor throughout. We were seated upstairs in the library room which was cozy and comfortable. The service and the food were excellent. Rich our waiter was friendly and attentive the entire night. My husband started with the French onion soup and I had a Caesar salad, both were great. He had the Wild Boar Bolognese Pappardelle which he said was excellent. I had the Braised Short Ribs which were out of this world...some of the best I ever had! We both had after dinner drinks...he had Ferry's Landing and I had the Coco Me Loco...both so good we each had 2. Highly suggest checking this place out when you're in the area. We look forward to our next visit and will definitely dine here again.”
“Enjoyed the Steak Frites, Wild Boar Bolognese Pasta as well as the Octopus and Brussel Sprouts appetizers. Good cocktails and red wine selection. Tables are a bit low so if you’re tall it can be a bit different sitting upstairs but it’s cozy place to hang out.”
“Took a day trip to New Hope and chatgpt recommended The Salt House for us based on our love for antiques and Victorian era homes and style. The Salt House definitely had the vibes. The second floor seating is very interesting with couches and awkward height tables and chairs. If you're tall, beware of knee bumps. The food was pretty solid but was sorta on par with other gastropubs we've been to. Unfortunately nothing that makes me say, "oh wow, I need to come back to try the other dishes." Don't get me wrong, everything was delicious. The highlight was the service. Jen out waitress was very friendly and we were very impressed she is able to walk up those steep stairs with drinks poured to the brim. Overall, it was a great experience.”
