Um.Ma. Which means “mom” in Korean is to pay homage not to just Korean moms, but to all moms since we all think our mothers have the best home cooking. As for the food, chef Chris will be firing up classic dishes like bubbling bowls of pork belly soon tofu and milky white bowls of ox bone soup with tender slices of brisket. From the wood fired grill, the chefs will be grilling prime cuts of 48hr marinated kalbi short ribs and chared gochujang glazed pork belly accompanied with house made ssamjang. Um.Ma. Also features a luscious back patio, picnic tables and 80 year old trees where diners will be able to have a drink and lounge to 90’s hip hop and dine al fresco. The Um.Ma. Team’s goal is to further promote Korean food and its culture while giving diners the nostalgic feeling of being back at mom’s house enjoy a hot home cooked meal.
“The Korean food here is really good. The flavors are a bit on the sweeter side compared to my usual preference, but overall still very enjoyable. The kimchi soup was super good — definitely highly recommend it. The outdoor seating area could be a bit more organized, but everything else was nice and comfortable. Overall, a good spot if you’re craving Korean food.”
“We attended a wedding dinner here, and it turned out to be such a wonderful experience. Food: A variety of dishes were served family-style, including chicken wings, rice, kimchi, soup, and beef. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The wings were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the kimchi really stood out as our favorite part of the meal. It was all so enjoyable that I’d happily come back again just to have those dishes one more time. (I Can remove all Negative rev from your business. If you want then please let me)”
“Best Korean food in town! And at a decent price! Highly recommend their bibimbap, corn cheese, dak galbi and kimchee prawns. Most of the seating is at the back of the restaurant, each table sits 4 comfortably. Consider a reservation, especially during weekends. This place gets packed. They also have the BEST side dishes.”
“Came here on a weeknight, never had trouble getting a table. The food is good but not great, partially due to the prices to portion ratio. We ordered teokkboki, LA galbi, beef bulgogi, pork belly, kimchi fried rice, bibimbap. Everything was well cooked. Galbi wasn’t too fatty and was delish, bulgogi was slightly too sweet but still tasty, kimchi fried rice lacked seasoning or taste, bibimbap had a unique western take on it, pork belly was mid. One disappointing thing - banchan (small side dish) isn’t free flow - it’s just season quails eggs, spiced broccoli, yellow pickled radish and kimchi. It’s disappointing considering these are inexpensive sides even from a restaurant owner perspective. I’ve dined here on multiple occasions, I’d personally recommend: LA galbi, scallion pancake, soonduboo jjigae, rock n roe rice and charred gai lon. Service staff were good! We enjoyed our food and service, just oddly underwhelmed by needing to pay for side dishes which are free flow in majority of the Korean joints I’ve been to. It’s not a big deal, just in principle? Would come again if I’m in the area. Total came to about $50+ per person with tips.”
“Chicken wings were very yummy and extremely crispy, tteokbokki was average. Overall, food was good but not life changing. Patio was warm and cozy, but indoor vibe was not great. Would recommend for a yummy casual dinner with a nice vibe and good value.”
