Gurumé (ㄱㄹㅇ) is a direct Korean translation to “in the clouds”, in hopes to give you a "cloud nine" type of experience. Gurumé is a cozy tapas bar in Hell’s Kitchen emerging from the chaos of the city created to bring a piece of culture and good vibes to the neighborhood.
“Delicious pea salad, steak and potatoes with chimichurri, and black sesame bread pudding. The staff was incredibly cognizant of timing since I was seeing a show. I would absolutely go back for the steak and potatoes alone! The scallop crudo could have used more balance on the acidity but that is my only note.”
“I dined at Gurumé with a friend in from DC, who had been there before. She has been raving about the place, and it did not disappoint. Far from it -- Gurumé wowed us! Every dish we ordered was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. We started with the Scallops Crudo, with hokkaido scallops that themselves were wonderful, plated beautifully, and nestled in a very tasty, light broth. We also shared the Brussle Sprouts, which were so tasty, and got even better as they sat and the tasty dressing infused the vegetables; the Steak and Potatoes - melt-in-your-mouth galbi beef with perfectly crispy potatoes; and the Mushroom Harvest Bowl, which contrasted the soft texture of the well-flavored mushroom medly and oncheon egg with crispy rice. My friend insisted we had to have the Black Sesame Bread Pudding even though we were both full; we practically licked the bowl clean. From the moment I walked in and was greeted warmly by the host, to the uber cool, helpful bartender who helped me choose a nice beer, to our wonderful server, to the busboys, the staff made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. Everyone was friendly and seemed happy to work there, which always is a good sign. They let us linger over a long dinner after checking with us that we were not rushing to a show (the place is on Restaurant Row, after all). Gurumé is a destination on its own, not just a place to eat before a show. Wonderful!”
“came here with one goal and one goal only: to try their black sesame bread pudding AND I AM SO GLAD I DID ! words cannot describe how much i love bread pudding and black sesame , so this was like the ultimate combo. also warm + cold desserts are always magical. the soft, mushy, not-too-sweet bread pudding was served hot on a sizzling skillet—giving the edges a slight baked crunch—with a delicious scoop of cold, creamy ice cream with a faint sesame taste. the nutty, buttery almond topping added the perfect crunchy finishing touch.”
“Gurumé is such a fun Korean tapas spot near Rockafeller Center 🤍 I came here with three of my girlfriends on a Saturday night and we made a reservation which I’d definitely recommend. The vibes were lively but still perfect for a girls night out ✨ We started with their festive espresso martini called the Rudolph 🍸🎄 It had a hint of caramel and came with a little marshmallow on the side which was such a cute touch. Sweet smooth and the perfect way to kick off the night. For food we ordered a bunch to share which is 100% the move here. The crispy corn and cheese was one of my favorites and such a great starter 🌽🧀 Then we tried the birria mandu and wow!! This is a must order. It was so good that we got it again. Super savory packed with flavor and the meat was unreal 🥟 We also got the everything tteokbokki which were so fun and satisfying and the baby back ribs were insanely tender and falling right off the bone 🍖 Definitely one of my top dishes of the night. We ended with the black sesame bread pudding and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was insanely good 🍮 I’ve never had anything like it and I’ve literally come back just for this dessert alone. It was also my birthday and it was so sweet that they sang happy birthday 🥹🎉 The food came out quickly the waiters were super attentive and overall the experience was amazing. I would absolutely come back and already can’t wait to return 💖🍽️✨”
“This was a good place but compared to other more authentic Korean food places this place was meh. Food: the wings were amazing, great balance of sweet an and savory with extreme crunch. The ramen was a bit over the top with the spiciness and muted the actual flavors that would’ve stood out kid better had they not been drowned in the spicy sauce. The soft boiled onsen egg was impressive but it would’ve been better if it wasn’t ice cold. The chip bits at the beginning were super oily and were a bit like the dregs at th bottom of a deep fryer or what’s leftover at the end of a bag of potato chips. Price: way over priced for the portion sizes even for NYC. If you’re going to be a tapas place then make the living and portions match Service: very kind servers and attentive, they took the time to let us know our wings might be slightly delayed and to describe each dish in detail and our water was promptly refilled each time without needing to ask Ambience: very loud that we struggled to hear the staff and had to keep repeating our prefer because they couldn’t hear us either”
