“My husband and I visited Ancient Peaks Winery for our very first wine tasting, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. We enjoyed most of the wines we tried, and everything felt relaxed and casual from the moment we arrived. Kendall, our server, was amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly kind throughout the entire tasting. She took the time to educate us about each wine and answered all our questions without ever making us feel uncomfortable, even when we felt a little silly asking. Her warmth and professionalism really made the experience special. I was honestly nervous going in because I was afraid the atmosphere might feel a little “haughty-taughty,” but it was the complete opposite. The tasting was welcoming, approachable, and genuinely enjoyable, making it a great first experience for us. The price was absolutely worth it, especially since we booked an excursion with the place across the street, and our tasting ended up being complimentary. We also ordered food, and it was delicious. We loved the wine so much that we ended up leaving with a bottle to take home. I would absolutely recommend this winery to couples, friends, or anyone visiting the area.”

“We stopped here for a wine tasting before our zip line adventure across the street. We enjoyed the wine and food. The pace of service is relaxed so don't come if you are in a hurry. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the company of your party as you indulge with good food and wine. Definitely recommend having a tasting and the charcuterie board. Wonderful place to visit!”

“Wonderful experience! I remember visiting Ancient Peaks Winery years ago when it was only a tasting room. Today, the tasting room has expanded, and now includes a full restaurant with a great selection of options, as well as the wines to taste or by the glass. The wines are well made, and there are a sizable selection of different varieties (including now three Italian varieties) at a wide range of price points for all budgets. The tasting room is welcoming and friendly, and the service has always been exceptional. Santa Margarita is just 15 minutes from San Luis Obispo, but the little town seems like a throwback to another era, and you can sit outside on the patio and enjoy the small town feel. Our server shared with us the interesting history of the land and soils of the Santa Margarita Ranch, including fossilized oyster shells that help deliver some of the characteristic flavors of the wines we tasted. Definitely worth a visit.”

“Some friends recommended this winery to us, so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations. We were seated at the bar, and maybe that was part of the issue. It was quite busy, with both indoor and outdoor seating filled. The wine itself was just mid. Our server didn’t seem knowledgeable about what she was pouring, and when it comes to wine tasting, that makes a huge difference. A big part of the experience is learning about the wines. You’re there for the story, the vineyard, the tasting notes and none of that really came through. My boyfriend is a bit of a wine snob (in the best way), and usually, if he enjoys the experience, he buys enough bottles to waive both of our tasting fees. This time, though, nothing really stood out or felt worth it. I’m sorry, but there’s so much more that goes into serving wine than just pouring it. You have to sell the wine and make people fall in love with it. Unfortunately, that spark was missing here. This is a one and done experience for us.”
