“It would seem the best restaurants have moved out of downtown Portland because Bethany's Table was a magnificent dining experience and it is located away from the bright lights of the Pearl. For starters, we didn’t order off the menu but rather asked our server, Michael, to please bring us whatever he and the magnificent team of chefs thought would create a memorable dining experience. They agreed and we were treated to a parade of subtle, complex, delicious dishes. We had shaved asparagus with Burrata cheese and a delicate, tangy vinaigrette dressing. A dish of green olives, warmed, that were not the overpowering cocktail olives you get from a jar but rather some magical delicious treats from Bethany’s Table’s kitchen. Then we had cherrystone clams in an amazing saffron sauce and perfectly toasted pieces of bread along with pasta pockets, a kind of ravioli I think, in another incredible sauce with long, complex, subtle flavors. And did I mention the bread? Soft, flavorful; perfect bread. Oh, and I tried the mocktails because I don’t drink alcohol. Generally, mocktails are tangy and cloying with sweetness so I rarely order them with dinner. But the two different mocktails I had (I don’t know he names of them because as with our meal, I trusted our server to come up with the recipes) were so good. So nuanced with a bit of sweet, some bitter, some citrus, but not sicky-sweet. Then for dessert, 8 slices of rich, creamy chocolate flavored with hazelnut liquor, candied orange peel and so many other flavors, none of which were too sweet. We told Michael, our excellent server, how we found the flavors to be subtle, complex and not too sweet or salty and his apt reply was, “that’s because adults work here.” That really did capture the wonder of what is the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. Bethany’s Table is a mature dining experience regardless of your age.”
“Had friends come in from out of town and so I took them to one of my favorite go to's in Beaverton. It didn't disappoint. Our table split for appetizers the chorizo and clams, meatballs (as good as my grandma's!) and duck rillette. All outstanding but the star was the chorizo and clams. We all had different entrees and raved about each - my spicy prawns and polenta had just enough heat and polenta cooked perfectly. The cocktails were divine and wait staff was speedy, hospitable and patient with our rowdy bunch! We walked out of the restaurant full and happy.”
“Two nights in a row at Bethanys Table. Friday night for after a busy week. It was so lovely to be back. French 75 with Empress gin—balanced, gone. The food is honest and thoughtful. I ordered the tribal-caught Chinook on a delicate lemon vodka beure blanc. Beautiful presentation. The next night, I returned for a wine pairing dinner. Prix fixe menu. We sat at long tables. Fantastic pairings with Tuscan wines from CapAnna in the Montosoli area. Incredible service—attentive—a big draw for coming back. Cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Thank you, Chef Janet, for two fantastic evenings.”
“The food was good but the portions were small… ıf you are expecting the American size portions you’d be disappointed. The BREAD was so addictive and delicious! OMG I am not a bread person but we ordered another round of bread for 2 after our friends left… Our waitress was superb! I wish I got her name for you guys. She was petite with very short hair… We went there for our girls time! We had fun! I’ll bring my husband next, he’s never been there. Hope this helps… **********Ok, review UPDATE!! I took my family here for the first time to celebrate a win and had the best food ever!! We were very surprised how everything we ate tasted so good! Starting with the bread! It never fails, always so yummy! My favorite was the tenderloin which was so tender and so juicy and tasty! Husband had the salmon broth -loved it, especially the sauce. Daughter had the beef rib, it was good but a nit on the dry side. I did not care too much of it, the portions were huge, filling! Absolutely enjoyed our dinner- we took all the pics and videos but forgot to take a picture of our celebration….”
“Had dinner here with friends and it was delicious as always! I ordered the carbonara. It was in a dark mushroom sauce and didn’t look like what I expected, but still had great flavor! I’m pretty sure I got someone else’s order. My fault for not saying something to our waitress. My wonderful wine, company, and ambience was beautiful. Can’t wait for the next visit!”
