Our California-inspired eatery and wood-fire grill brings delicious fare to the Armatage neighborhood of Minneapolis. With a contemporary vibe and a warm neighborhood feel, Book Club opens every day beginning at 8 a.m. There’s also a full bar, a commitment to craft cocktails, extensive wine and beer lists along with a neighborhood favorite happy hour menu featured 7 days a week.
“The bartender/server was amazing. He was very accommodating to us and being patient bringing our young baby. Try the Japanese pancake and Espresso Martini.”
“Edit again: their happy hour is awesome! Get the steak skewers! Mac and cheese could use a bit more seasoning though. Edit: I haven't visited this place since my last review, and it still did not disappoint. We didn't catch the bartenders name, but they were so kind and made our experience truly that much better. I love to try a little bit of everything, so they did their best to make it work for me and I was so pleased. We didn't realize they did last call for the kitchen already and the bartender went out of their way for us. I can't say enough good things about this place. I love the vibe, service was great, they make a delicious dirty martini and if you're considering getting the grilled cheese with kimchi- don't hesitate and just order it. You will NOT regret it. This place is phenomenal and quaint in every way you'd expect a restaurant called Book Club to be.”
“Delicious, fresh, scratch, comfort, friendly, ambiance... words I'd use to describe Book Club. We had skewers and the tofu to start. All were super tasty and highly recommend. We then had the broccoli mac and a fried chickend sandwich. The chicken sandwich was top notch. The mac was also fairly tasty.”
“We live in the neighborhood, and love that Book Club is here. We think the food is great! This time I had the seafood red coconut curry, and my wife had the asparagus risotto. Both were delicious, and I also really enjoyed my pineapple daiquiri. My only complaint is that we had to wait quite a while for the drink, and for my wife's wine. And then when my wife wanted a second glass of wine, it took a while for our server to notice, so there was a delay there too. Granted, it was pretty busy, but still -- just wanted to be honest that this made it a 4 instead of a 5 star experience. However, we still recommend Book Club! Just be prepared to be a bit patient, perhaps -- we were.”
“This is a fairly small restaurant positions in South Minneapolis. We had a 6:30 reservation and there was quite a few people inside. The waitress most wonderful and assisted us right away and stop back many times. They have a great cocktail menu along with a couple mocktails. The food however was just okay. The Caesar salad was made with anchovies, but it tasted very fishy. The pesto chicken flatbread was more of hand tossed Pizza style but very good. Need fried chicken sandwich was very juicy and tender. They did offer a few specials of the night that sounded delicious, but we didn't try any of these tonight.”
