“Wonderful food and great service. Had dinner with group of 15 ladies celebrating my daughter’s 50th birthday. Ordered from price fixe menu of several entrees. I had the half children with pear bbq salsa which was tender and well seasoned. Table style sharing of sides of delicious corn and tasty beans. Caramel Flan was okay. Nice selection of drinks . Like how everyone’s food came out at the same time. A tad bit overpriced…but would dine here again if in the area.”
“Stopped in here while in town for work. What an experience. Situated in a low key, low traffic area part of Tuscon, Charro*S did not disappoint. The atmosphere is modern southwestern and very comfortable. Everyone starts with chips and salsa that is phenomenal. I began with the escargot which was delicious and done just right. Then I had the chefs cut which was a cowboy ribeye with a churro on the top and while I was skeptical at first, this thing blew me away. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, the sweetness of the churro went perfectly with the seasoned steak for a kinda sweet, kinda spicy, kinda savory flavor that was incredible. Finished it off with the lava cake for an overall incredible meal served by a fantastic waiter, Marc, who never let me have an empty glass of water and always seemed to appear at the right time. I would definitely check this place out if you are in Tuscon for any amount of time.”
“We stopped here for dinner while visiting Tucson after taking the Amtrak train from Marshall, Texas to Tucson, Arizona. This restaurant is right next to the AC Hotel Tucson Downtown where we were staying, so it was an easy walk over for dinner after arriving in town. If you’re staying downtown or coming in on the train, the location is very convenient. The restaurant actually has two separate dining areas with different entrances. When we first walked into one side they asked if we had a reservation. Since we didn’t, they kindly directed us around the corner to the other dining entrance where walk-ins were seated. We were able to get a table without any trouble. The staff was friendly and welcoming from the start. Service was smooth throughout the evening and the food was excellent. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were very good. Everything came out well prepared, well presented, and tasted delicious. The atmosphere inside is great. Exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and a lively dining room give it a nice upscale feel while still being comfortable and relaxed. It is on the pricier side, but the quality matched the price. Dinner for two was about $175 including drinks, and everything we had was very good. If you’re visiting downtown Tucson, staying at the nearby hotels, or arriving by Amtrak like we did, this is a great place to enjoy a quality steak dinner. Tip: If you don’t have a reservation, try the second dining entrance where they were seating walk-ins. Recommended visit: Dinner.”
“Nice place, I think slightly overpriced for the food items. I would say excellent drinks, good food, good service …but nothing spectacular….chips and salsa were good, smoky flavor to the salsa. The lobster queso fundito was good, But they brought it with Chicharron and I don’t eat that. So the waiter brought chips, nice! We each drank Julian Drew’s Cadillac margarita they were so delicious… We had 1 more! We ate filet mignon. My favorite steak is really a ribeye, but it was priced higher than the fillet. The. The beans that came with the steak were good, The salad was so soaked with dressing, it was wilted. Service was good, but not spectacular. The waitress that brought us our dinner, not the regular waiter, reached over my friend to serve me my plate…. I thought that to be a little rude. Overall good, not A place I would return to considering the price I wish I would have taken pictures before we started eating….”
“We had a Valentine's dinner 6:45pm reservation for Charro Steak. Drinks and oysters at the steak side bar with live music was nice. We were then sat on the Del Ray side, where my poor experience began. 1. There wasn't live music in the Del Ray, instead random music played from the sound system which wasn't supportive of a Saturday night Valentines dinner. Not romantic like the steak side would've been. 2. Our server was a male, who had a nonchalant attitude about providing service. We sat for 5-6 minutes before he greeted us and took our drink order. We had to ask 15 minutes later for him to bring our ordered diet pepsi. Mid-meal, instead of recognizing an empty glass at the corner of our table, we had to ask again for a refilled soda. 3. Our server was whistling as he walked around the restaurant. We knew where he was in the restaurant by hearing his whistle, and he surely wasn't tending to our needs without first having to be called over. 4. When my $130+ meal arrived, it came without a steak knife. At this point, I just used my dull table knife. 5. Sure, my server did his "job", but the service was pitiful. He referred to me as "bro" "my dude" instead of something courteous. Also, he referred to the man in the table next to me as "big dog". If I wanted this level of chill, I would have gone to a sports bar, not dropped $300+ at this steakhouse. At the end, he took the signed receipt without a farewell, thankyou, nor happy whatever. Just grabbed the ticket, his pen and walked to the staff computer. Food was delicious, but the overall experience was a letdown. I wish I had chosen a different restaurant to spend my Valentines dinner at.”
