Housed in a building from the late 1800s, Southbound Restaurant and Private Event Space offers creative comfort food with a southwest twist and a craft cocktail program.
“We sat on the Shaded patio for dinner. Brought our dog and the Restaurant is dog friendly. Located overlooking the railroad switches in Chamblee. Ordered the Chamblee Hot Chicken, and even though I am from Texas, and order the spicy chicken at wataburger, Wendy’s and chick fil a, the Chamblee Hot Chicken was too hot for me so be careful. I finished it anyway, with lots of water and a $2 cornbread. My wife had a shrimp on a salad.”
“Awesome food!! We went here for our anniversary dinner. We shared the bloody Mary devil eggs and wings. They were great and full of flavor. Nice original flavor twist. I had the bramble cocktail and it was refreshing and easy to drink. I had the Chile rellenos burger....super yummy!! Cheesy, gooey deliciousness!”
“The shrimp and grits were outstanding, and the coffee was excellent. The vegetable platter was good. However, the cornbread was over baked, and the replacement piece wasn’t much better. This was disappointing because we were looking forward to the cornbread.”
“We were visiting some shops right around the corner from here and decided to come eat. It was about an hour before the 2:30 closing, just two of us for a quick bite. We were seated pretty quickly. I ordered the burger and asked if they had lettuce, and our server said “sometimes”. I then asked if the buffalo cauliflower side was fried, and she said it was grilled. Luckily, they did have lettuce. However, the cauliflower is indeed breaded and fried. Odd that the menu calls the Brussels sprouts fried, but those seem way less friend than the cauliflower. Nonetheless, the burger and salmon BLT were delicious. Overall would definitely come back to eat!”
“Have been here a few times over the years as the area has grown, especially with how cool the interior is. Have unfortunately not been a huge fan of their food. Tried the fried green tomatoes and the deviled eggs recently which are usually safe bets at a Southern spot but the flavors and consistency were off. We went between lunch and dinner so maybe the kitchen wasn’t firing on all cylinders. Bartender was great though and I expect Southbound to continue to do well considering the area.”
