The General Muir Emory Point

“Came here for a late lunch and sat at the bar. Very friendly and attentive service. To drink I got a chocolate egg cream; which in my opinion could have used more seltzer water, but that’s just me. Still a good drink! For lunch I got the matzoh ball soup with pastrami and a Reuben sandwich with a side of cole slaw. Wow. The soup broth included dill which was unexpected but super tasty. Sandwich was excellent, too. Overall really great experience and can’t wait to go back.”

“First visit today - 5pm on a Thursday. No wait. Maria took great care of us and went above and beyond handling food allergy questions and concerns. The food was crazy good. There’s a reason this place is in the Michelin Guide. We had pastrami, burgers, fries, potato salad, cucumber salad, Rueben and cheesecake. It was all perfectly done. Will make this a regular stop whenever we’re on that side of town. Can’t wait to try other stuff!”

“I really enjoyed everything about The General Muir. We had brunch/lunch. When I go to restaurants I like to try items that have a twist to it. For an appetizer we had the heavenly eggs lol they were good! I had the fish and potatoes which was latkes over a bed of hash browns with a creamy cheese mixture topped with apple sticks. Very good! The Piled High Pastrami was everything. Flavorful, tender and the bread was thick and soft. The fries were fine nothing to extravagant just good fries. We opted for mocktails, I can't remember the name of the mocktails but the bartender made them to our specific taste...I like sweet drinks. Overall wonderful restaurant. Parking was easy enough but it was a rainy Saturday so it may be difficult at night. Our waitress was attentive and provided good details regarding food choices. The atmosphere is laid back and kid friendly.”

“I had two lunches and ate at the bar. The place is beautiful and the servers friendly and helpful - my fountain sparkling water glass was refilled constantly. Coffee was great. Chopped liver was perfect, Reuben and Tuna sandwiches were also terrific, pickles were crisp, and coleslaw seasoned very delicately (not too sour or too sweet which commonly happens) which worked very well. I’d definitely return!!!”

“I first heard of the General Muir on an episode of Diners, Drivers-ins and Dives. I went here for lunch while on my way to work. After looking through the menu, I decided on the soup and half sandwich meal with a matzoh ball soup and Reuben sandwich being my choices. I was surprised with the size of the single matzoh ball in the soup, but when cut and mixed with the broth, it was a savory and delicious experience. The sandwich as well was savory and mouthwatering. Despite the price, it was a good experience.”
