“Had always gone to the Lakeway CHO since I lived nearby but meeting up with friends for lunch at this Steiner location. Had great experience at Lakeway so hoping this would be as good too! YES, It was! Sorry to hear John had left and sold to new owners and glad to know John shared with them the familiar menu and favorite items I remembered! Nice to see good amount of patrons enjoying lunch. Will be back!”
“This place was amazing I came in earlier that night with a rest reservation and was seated immediately. Food was amazing you get a lot for the price. The miso soup was my favorite!! Best miso soup i ever had. I finished off with some cheesecake which I don’t have a picture of but the cheesecake is good. Customer service was amazing. Would recommend to anyone!!”
“Tried Cho Sushi Japanese Fusion near my residence for the first time and had a nice experience. We ordered a mix of fried and non-fried rolls, and the sushi was fresh and tasty. Paired it with a Diet Coke, which worked out great. I also liked the vibe of the place – cozy and inviting. Overall, good food and atmosphere. I’d definitely go back again, and yes, I’d recommend it to sushi lovers in the area.”
“Neighborhood loyalty only goes so far — this is how you lose regulars This review isn't really about eel sauce. It's about what happens when a neighborhood restaurant starts putting short-term profit ahead of customer loyalty. I've been a regular customer here for years and have always enjoyed supporting a local Steiner Ranch business. Today, however, was the first time I genuinely felt like management had lost sight of what made people want to support them in the first place. I placed a large to-go order consisting of 7 different sushi rolls. When I arrived, I asked for eel sauce, something I've always received in the past and something that naturally pairs with several of the rolls I ordered. Thalia, who is always friendly and professional, informed me that they now charge for it: 50 cents for a small 2 oz cup or $2 for an 8 oz soup container. To be clear, this isn't about being unable to afford an extra couple of dollars. It's about the principle. Sushi here is already expensive, and prices have increased over the years. Now, on top of premium menu prices, customers are being charged separately for basic sauces that many people consider part of the meal experience. What made this even more disappointing was that Thalia herself seemed uncomfortable with the policy and explained that management no longer allows employees to provide it. The employees are not the problem here. This appears to be a decision coming from ownership. As someone who lived in Japan while serving in the Army, I've experienced firsthand the hospitality, generosity, and customer-first mindset that make Japanese dining culture so memorable. Unfortunately, that spirit feels increasingly absent here. Instead of making customers feel appreciated, this policy makes loyal patrons feel nickel and dimed. The saddest part is that businesses rarely lose customers over a single 50 cent charge. They lose customers because those small charges send a much larger message: "Your loyalty matters less than getting a little more profit." It's disappointing because I want local businesses to succeed. I want to support restaurants in my own neighborhood. But when a restaurant starts treating longtime customers like a revenue opportunity instead of valued guests, people eventually look elsewhere. Going forward, I'll likely be making the extra drive to Nabe Sushi in River Place. The food is great, but more importantly, the experience reflects the hospitality and customer appreciation that made me fall in love with Japanese cuisine in the first place, and I am never charged for extra sauce. I sincerely hope ownership realizes what they're trading away for 50 cents.”
“Wow this place has gone downhill. I’m not one for negative reviews, but the sushi is almost inedible - the shrimp, eel, and tuna taste like they sat out for a week. Service was slow even though there was only one other family. Cho was good back in the day, it this was just horrible.”
